fatso, another thing I learned that no one told me about.

Formula or breast milk that's refrigerated, make sure you warm it up before feeding kid. Have a kettle handy, boil water, put in a large cup and then put refrigerated bottle inside cup with hot water for a few minutes.

Gave the kid cold formula, it was hell all night. Didn't sleep, was fussy, etc. Room temperature, and she is out \:\)

^the above is all common sense, but not that common when you haven't slept for weeks and don't know what day or time it is lol

You're doing it wrong!

Before bed, do the following:

- boil water and put it into a thermos that will keep it warm for most of the night
- in a bottle, put 20 ml of boiled water that will get to room temp: do this for as many feedings as you need in the night
- have spare empty bottles handy; for your sake, I hope you have at least 8 bottles for a full 24 hours
- get a cooler and put some ice packs

When the kid wakes up screaming, take the bottle with 20ml room temp water and add 40 ml of the hot water and the powder. The formula should be good to feed at that temp, but adjust ratios if need be. Let's say the kid finishes the first bottle and wants more. Do the same thing again in a clean bottle and pour what you need into the bottle that she just fed with. If you still have leftover in the spare, put it in the cooler for use during the daytime.

This way, you don't have to leave the room and milk is ready within a min. Waiting to warm up formula while the kid is crying is excrutiating.

Doing it all wrong. Sw20's way is far too long. With a crying baby you want them to stop NOW LOL.

Best shit ever. Obviously won't help with refrigerated breast milk.

Yes, but it doesn't boil water. It keeps it at 98f.
Poor distilled water into it and viola it's ready for use. No need to worry about the formula being too hot or not hot enough. It was a life saver.

Ghetto way takes too long. With the berreza all you do is pour. Not sure how any other way can be faster lol

It's definitely not faster. It's just cheaper, but it doesn't take that much longer. I got used to it before the Brezza.

damn both those warming bottle ways are dope.

i just didn't wait for my daughter to wake up crying her ass off to eat, i would rouse her just enough so that she wasn't fully awake, feed her, then she'd itis knock out for the rest of the night.

There is a temperature setting on the more expensive ones, but none of them keep it at body temperature. Like who drinks body temperature tea lol

Well... sometimes tea gets warm after sitting for a bit. Still good - it's only gross sounding when you call it "body temperature"

So I've come up with my own method as a hybrid of what I read here.

I do the distilled water + formula and put it in a big bottle in the fridge (to last 24 hours)

When a feed is required I pour a 60ml - 90ml into a disinfected bottle and place it in a cup with freshly boiled water. It brings the formula/breast milk from 2 degrees C (fridge) to 23 degrees C in about 2 minutes. It's still a bit of trial and error as I am trying to figure out exactly the time the bottle needs to be submerged in boiling water as the heat transfer is different based on glass thickness of bottle or if you use a plastic bottle.

It's pretty fast and convenient.

Title warmer takes too long, especially when using a glass bottle.

These are all great notes! In light of all of this, I've started construction on a chemistry lab in the nursery, complete with test tubes, bunsen burners, thermometers etc.

No real update on my side yet... wife has now been asked by the docs to stay at home and sit on the egg. We're still a couple of weeks away from the expected due date but it seems kiddo might be a little eager to start pecking his way out.

In other news, haven't driven the Golf since bringing it home. Fucking snow... It seems everything in my life now is just about waiting. I FUCKING HATE WAITING!!!

Aside from the shock to the body due to the new environment, we found the first few weeks easy. Then all hell broke loose, as Vas is finding out now. GNSP. Just gotta suck it up.
