Jealous. Mine will NOT sleep in the car. 4 year old has only slept in the car twice that I can think of... 2 year old is a bit better... 5 or so times. And we drive, a lot. Family is 45min away minimum.

"It gets easier the second time" LOL it totally doesn't. Maybe a little.
in my circle of friends, those of us with two kids all tell our friends with one to "think long and hard before you go for #2"

Precisely. I'm all for double standards if I had a teenage girl. Beyond worrying about boys, the whole internet bullying stuff that you hear about with girls is troubling as well.

Teenage boys, you worry about one dick.

Teenage girls, you worry about all dick.

My wife and I joke that we'll pay them back when they have kids. We'll spoil their kids rotten with toys and candy and then send them home when we're tired.

We've been walking mostly so not much car experience, but the 2 short car rides we did (about 3 mins of driving) she was out cold. As long she is in motion she seems to be calm, carrying her by hand in bassinet/carseat, stroller, car, etc.

Go find a babies r us or a snuggle bugz and throw your kid into one of these to try out.

I saw these being demonstrated at the baby show... seemed to calm the kids well.

Didnt work for my first, will try for my 2nd.
The easiest way to calm my first was to put him in the bucket car seat and swing it back and fourth like a swing.

I've given up on all gadgets/methods.
What works one minute doesn't work the next, vice versa, have to keep alternating and trying new shit. This week has been brutal, everything is random, feedings are more frequent and less volume, sleeps less, basically can't put her down for more than 5 minutes or

Try a sound machine, white noise worked for my twins.
We just play one of those youtube white noise channels. Works, until it doesn't.

Lol. Reminds me of my niece. My sister uses to turn on the hair dryer in the bathroom. For a time, we stuck our first son in his bassinet and let him sleep in the washroom with the fan on. We eventually settled on using an air cleaner for white noise. The things parents do...
