I am having a hard time choosing between these 4 models.
Budget is 20k, she wants 4wd, Bluetooth, and preferably rear DVDs for those long drives
Fuel mileage is not a huge concern, but they all get 20-25 mpg hwy anyway

2010 Jeep Commander
http://www.autotrader.ca/result/addetail...CFQGRaQod778A3g

2012 Mazda Cx9
http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Mazda/CX-9/Ha...O&orup=38_15_58

2011 MKT non ecoboost
http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Lincoln/MKT/BRAMPTON/Ontario/19_10082512_/?showcpo=ShowCPO&orup=9_15_13

2013 MKT Ecoboost, little questionable history
http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Lincoln/MKT/U...PO&orup=7_15_13

Kinda leaning towards the Lincoln or the Jeep. The Mazda just looks so boring

In that price range they are pretty old or have high KM

Would have liked a 4runner 2011-2012 but not even close to 20k

The wife (and I) were really happy with the CRV. Super reliable, lots of trunk space, drove like a car. The 4 cyl was a slightly under powered but was perfect for my wife.

I don't see very many in that price range for 2011. Most are 2009 or lower

Ya can't get anyone between the two kids seats. Well they fit but not comfy at all. Even the dog can't find a place to sit back there. He is big though, German Shepard x with a golden retriever.
We do a fair bit of driving for camping and to visit family and more room will be nice
The extra two seats would be so great. So many time family has some to visit and we end up taking two cars.
I don't need a lecture about fitting everything into what we have now, blah blah. I got a deal on the Subaru when we bought to so if I get 10 out of it if we trade it in with tax savings I would be happy And I would rather just trade it in than try to sell privately.

I know you are not going to get the Venza, but when I was doing my research the car won on so many different levels and this is one of them (space). It's a very wide vehicle and I always wanted to be able to carry two car seats and my MIL if I had to...and yes you can.

This is from Toyota nation (also the v6 hauls ass)

 Quote:
We bought the Venza specifically because it was the widest 4 cylinder on the market. We have three car seats in the rear. Two of them are Sunshine Radians (for a one and three year old), and the other is a Graco booster (for a six year old) with back attached. They fit with more than enough room between the car seat and the booster for the oldest to do up his own seat belt. If in doubt get three Sunshine Radians, they are the narrowest car seats you can get. They are pricey, but very well built. We have wider car seats in our van. You could fit them in the Venza, but it is much more difficult. If you can't get them in the Venza then you are going to be getting a minivan or a three row SUV. There is nothing with more hip room measurement then the Venza. Good luck.

Also this:

 Quote:
yes, and 2 child seats will fit on the 60% rear seat, allowing you to drop down the 40% rear seat to make more room to carry a bulky object in the back cargo area

It's such a great car, it's not as big of a barge as an SUV has utility, you don't have to pay 3rd row SUV premium, look great, the AWD system is on par if not better than Subaru's (watch the test comparisons yourself - not that it matters since we are splitting hairs, but worth noting).

Highlander - on your driveway tonight gone in the morning!!! Extremely high theft rate. Shipped overseas in a day.

That mkt looks like a funeral hurse .... why not check out its equivalent the explorer?

Tons to pick from... colour/options/ km/ price.

Found one :

2011 Ford Explorer Limited power fold rear seats and DVD. Headrests.

Thought about that too, fuel mileage on 09s and down is terrible, 10 and up seems better, I think I need to have another look

Actually before we got the Subaru the Venza was going to be the car we bought, but at that time my wife wanted another manual trans, so that got nixed.
It's still a tempting choice, but I think we could make more use of something with more seats

151k though. It's the same chassis as the Lincoln but they are more expensive, I guess because the MKT looks are subjective lol

The flex is kinda tempting

everyone says that but my 2007 grand cheroke has been great. I've put almost 100,000km on it since I bought it, other than maintance stuff (tires, brakes), the only stupid thing that died was the turn signal stalk.

Looks like you've decided to keep that for yourself? Nothing crazy for you coming down the way?

A friend has the CX-9, likes it for what it is but wouldn't do it again if it wasn't for wanting the rear row which has been used 5x in 2 years.

ya wife doesn't like driving it very much. And I like it and I need it to tow so it's not going anywhere

I added a font bumper to it on the weekend haha.
Next up 4 inch superlift, maybe lol

Fair enough, you seem to like it or at least be able to live with it without complaint. What was the motivation behind the bumper?

You seem to be in the fairly common situation of wanting an SUV that is as useful as a minivan. It's not easy, I tell the wife we'll only try for 1 kid. Honestly the 4Runner has been great, you'd never know it's got the miles it has, I'd buy it again for simple wagon type transportation. I looked at those MDX's but didn't want to spend the money and I'm glad I didn't.

#1 I just like it, #2, added weight over the front end. When towing the front end was really light. It's a short wheel base, so some added weight sticking way out front should help, it's 70kg.

Agree! My dad is looking to unload his 2012 Durango r/t because it's a money pit

Ac lines went (common issue, super expensive to fix, same with caravan)
Hose clamp just blew and caused engine overheat and starter fried
Had issue with brake master cylinder or something related
Other small issues that added up

He's looking into getting a ridgeline

It's too bad they never offered a manual for that motor.
