Meh, I haven't paid since I was in car sales... I'm cheap. I can think of other things I need to spend $46 on.

Can't go this year. It will only be the second time I would miss it since the late 90s.

My 2011 Hatch was around 400-425 km a tank mixed driving
All city driving you get below 400km a tank (55L tank)

Friday for me as well. My dear wife is looking to pull the trigger on the new Countryman so we're going to go lay eyes on it. Honestly though, I'm really hoping to end up with a GTI or a Cooper S 5-door.

ummm....usually 11.5 to 13.5 L/100km LOL....on 91/94 too. mostly street....i'd do some hwy here and there. i had super short drive cycle which didn't help, esp in winter. and i don't exactly drive slow either. so yeah...60L tank it was? not the best mileage.

mine was a 2008 hatch model and the OE tune was assssss. if you get the newer gen. sti's they SHOULD be better. but the car is ugly as fuck now.

went tonight.

two cool things: audi has a R8 that is half R8 and half R8 LMS Ultra. Interesting to see they used a fairly common airfoil profile (in terms of low speed high lift profile choices go) for the race car.

Infiniti has a F1 car in the booth with a cutout in the engine cover / side pods showing some of the guts. Fairly certain the car is "legit" and not a demo model, can't tell which year the front wing is from, but if you look at the fins on the exit of the brake duct, the endplate and the y250 turning vane also on the front wing, you can see it's not a demo. Buddy and I geeked over that thing for at least 15-20 mins.

Why didn't you buy Wayne's wife's countryman 6 speed, it was practically new and he ended up getting next to nothing for it from bmw

I actually brought that up with the wife when Wayne was selling but she wants the new one as it's got the new S engine from the 3 and 5 door... something about using mid-grade gas instead of premium. She's bent on saving the $30 a year on gas or something stupid like that. Totally illogical - save $120 over 4 years on fuel costs vs $10k on the price of the car - WTF?!?!? So.... pregnant

Doesn't matter... still gonna try and talk her out of it. I firmly believe we don't need a big car.

THIS is what I'm excited to see. I can't wait to sit in the jizz LOL.

Actually, I kinda like the Civic sedans I see floating around town. Has insurance on these things gotten reasonable yet?

I'm really curious to see how the R drives. Drove the GTI last year and had a fucking blast. I think the all seasons that were mounted on it added to the fun - lifting off the throttle mid-turn kicked the bum out a little bit, allowing you to just WOT through the rest of the corner as long as you had it aimed in the right direction. Since then, I've been curious how the AWD handles in comparison.

I was on the VW.ca website to look at the prices of GTI

The 5 doors GTI are $35,000 + HST
The R starts at $40,9XX + HST so it may be worth the extra 6g for 82 more HP and 4WD

buuut it's "awd", because it's really ff until it loses grip.
And there is no LSD option, unlike the GTI.
The GTI PP is more of a drivers car than the R is IMO.
Plus, the tartan interior cloth is sweeeeeeet.
