I go every year. Got laser surgery so no prescription required for now. Just a checkup to make sure everything is healthy. Don't like paying but no different than doing an annual checkup with your GP.

annual check up for me. family history of glaucoma and my retina in one of my eye is swiss-cheesing ... the doc keeps an eye on it. (pun intended).
ironically; my prescription has been pretty consistent despite the chance of going blind -- will see how long this lasts.
health benefits cover it and i have flex dollars leftover; so i don't give a crap and will get it done.

Nope. The older way it works (some still do this way) is insurance needed the eye test results submitted to them with the invoice of the sunglasses of your choice (or legit glasses whatever). So basically go to asian store, they write a very basic 21/20 or whatever and that'd be fine for insurance to accept (i assume they'd still keep it on file for when you get new ones every 2 years like we're allowed). then ins just reimburse directly to your bank account. they don't care what brand/type/style or even check if you actually get prescrip lenses installed or not.
Nowadays many places have direct billing to insurance and you dont even need a prescrip unless insurances asks for it later on (but they prob have your old on one file, as mentioned above anyways). So basically go to asian store, pick your shades and pay nothing...just hand them your work insurance card, they'll submit it directly to the company and get reimbursed directly. you go back to store when your new shades order has arrived from supplier...walk in, pick up, walk out. IF ins even bothers asking for prescrip, he has "a guy" to go to at another location to get you one done and just back date it before the invoice date when you bought.
What's funny is i've been in seminars where the ppl FROM the insurance company basically tell you to do this/ie. use your benefits up when you can, get sunglasses if you dont need or want prescrip. glasses lol.

I've got my eyes checked exactly one time (Which was about 6 months ago) of course he thinks I need glasses. Problem is, I don't have any issues reading, so there's no fucking way I'm going to make my eyes even weaker then they already are, lol 39 by wearing them.

The only reason why this might be a good thing is that I can get my Maui Jims with a prescription lens. My numbers are like yours, barely anything.

So just to get this straight on how the process works:
1. CSI Asian will PM me secret Asian OWL store in discrete Markham location.
2. White boy goes to said location with 20/20 vision and no eye exam and requests sunglasses and a receipt for insurance.
3. FOBs look at gwai lo for 2 minutes, speak some mandarin and then make me pay for whatever sunglasses I get and issue me a legit receipt as if I bought them via prescription even though I don't have one?
4. Submit said receipt to benefits and they will pay it back despite not having an exam done?

lol yes pretty much (going by my first example of the older way of doing it).
to add to your step 3. though, they'll write you up a 'basic' prescription ie. 21/20 and you include that with your receipt when you send it to your insurance.

Yes, SOME asian stores will provide the exam for you (i assume one of the employees has some sort of optometrist license?) in addition to selling you the glasses. Usually it's the bigger ones (i've used ones in Pmall "Good Eyes" i think it was, Woodbine/Hwy7 and Brimley and Sheppard.
The employee will take you in the back (lulz) and have to use this little machine, check you and write up something on their form. Submit said for with receipt and you're good to go.
So basically if you want to do it this way the store you choose can't sell just glasses.
