For 5 years i've been planning on extending my garage so it's 25' deep, there was one big issue, the driveway is reverse sloping and the asphalt wasn't laid flat so if i moved the door forward it wouldn't close flush.
SO let's tear everything out and spend a fuckload of money for an extra 80 square feet or so, why don't we:
The existing structure/issue, look at all that dead space.
I started working on it on my own to get a feel of how long the demo takes:
borrowed some stuff from wife uncle down the street
deployed a few buddies to lend a helping hand, even my boss from my construction days came by to give me some advice on the drainage system
everyone is wrecked, that was two 20 yard bins filled
took a day off to overbuild the garage, 8" concrete pad 1/3 way in:
Now planning my draining system, $100/linear foot, all in $3k to have a flat driveway/drain I also ran conduit and dedicated water line so i can put a "sump pump" type of pump in the drain itself so it will never back up and if it does then the pump will get the water out, eliminating any chance of flooding.
Started raining, concrete was still wet and I had to go to a wedding. Let's make this place look like Oshawa doe...
Came back from wedding, everything dried up nice:
Went to beaver valley to get some indiana limestone for my step (this happens later), but the matrix is the best. Each step is 180lbs or so
At this point i was getting mentally drained, hired a solid crew to come lay the interlock for me with all the prep done.
A few more trips to beaver valley with the matrix
My buddy found this in the garbage, Markham fob threw it out....just markham things. I will take it
Driveway finished
Framing the new garage door opening
As per garagejournal.com this is the best garage door opener you can get, quiet, lasts forever, and fast....plus it's jack shaft not bullshit chain operated. Sign me up.
Started taking door apart
csi baller paid me a visit
Taken now, i am tired. More to come.

Nice work - I thought you were working on the driveway because of drain problems. Didn't know you were extending garage space.

No kids = lots of time to do shit. Also, lots of time to run missions
No kidding, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Nice job Risky. Are you gonna start your own contracting business? Risky Construction Co.?

Started in April and it was on and off type of deal.
nice!!!!!! you're lucky you don't have kids, or else you would still be working on this a year from now lol
That's why I am doing this now
Damn nice job. Where the fuck do you find the time to do this shit lol
I know you guys joke about no kids, and sure it's true, but this is ultimately a second full time job for me. After I am done work I don't watch tv/play games/chill, hardly use the computer, it's all reno stuff. I find it therapeutic, plus with wife doing her masters I have a lot of time to myself. So everyday after 6pm this is happening, weekends, same thing
Are you gonna start your own contracting business? Risky Construction Co.?
Don't be surprised if I do.
Thanks to all the positive words, it was a fuckload of work and still not finished

I debated a scissor lift hoist during this whole ordeal, was pretty much set to pull the trigger, but the bean counter in me pulled out.
I don't wrench on cars enough to need one, for the 3-4 times a year that I do need to do something I will just use my regular jack. My biggest issue is that there is no real clean way of doing a scissor lift without it being a tripping hazard (well there are, but I am not a fan). I was going to do it built into the floor so it's flush with the concrete, had it all planned out, but it just doesn't make sense for a person like me. It would be more of a novelty item than anything else.
Plus my buddy just put a commercial lift in his place, I will use that if I really end up needing one. The other issue I have is I have very low headroom (just over 7')
just gypsy garage problems I wish I had a normal house sometimes.

Looking good bro! Did you need to get a permit from the City of Maaaaakaaaaam to extend the garage?
all he needs to do is to order a maaakaam permit from ali express. they all look the same, right?
