We had them at our old house and did the bottom floor windows and doors. We also installed strike plates on the doors. At the end of the day, the only thing that any of this stuff can do is slow down robbers.

i have a dog that looks like a dire-wolf, so no need. Ya, funny how secure a dog makes you feel. If we heard a sound and my dobe didn't move then I thought nothing of it. Now that he is gone I am more aware in the house.
Same.
Our 85lbs Boxer is our alert although she would do nothing, but bark lol

I have but I can't tell you how well they work as I've never tried breaking the windows.
If you have $1-2K, why not? It can't hurt (unless you have glass break sensors).
