Noticed that Rona in Woodbridge is having 10% off everything, except lumber, etc
No returns on stuff you purchase now.
Eh, they lasted longer than I thought. Seemed more expensive than Home Depot.
Still it was good to have around though.

Can't stand Rona. Least helpful employees, never have what I need. I'd rather shop at Lowes, always friendly and always have what I need and usually cheaper than HD.

We loaded up the soil for 10 minutes. Nobody showed up.
Could have gotten a lot more than what I paid for.

Got some 3 days ago as well.
Nobody around to check the receipt that time either.

We have Rona, Lowes, HD pretty much in the same block.
Then Home Hardwares far west in a little plaza nobody goes. Probably about the size of Radioshack. It's been there for years but I only found about it a couple of years ago.
It will be nice if Home Hardwares take the Rona's spot.

I found rona to be much cheaper for a few odd things compared to home depot.

I needed 1/2"x8" carriage bolts and a box was 46.99 give or take a buck. Went to rona and the exact same carriage bolts (same box and brand), was exactly 50% less. I've also had good experience with returning stuff i've already used to rona.

Home depot is stupid expensive for just about anything, but at least you don't have to waste your time go from store to store looking for shit, they have everything...unfortunately at stupid prices.

^i don't know dude; i went to like 50 of those tile places on jane in woodbridge and their tiles were atleast $8-$12 more per sq ft. home depo was the cheapest, same thing for the floor but i didn't shop around too much for that.

Trust me, I'd be the first one in line to support them. Unfortunatly I get better service from an American chain than I do the Canadian one. I hate shopping at American stores if there is a Canadian alternative.

I don't base it on price alone either. Every single time I go into Lowes, almost every single employee says hi or asks if they can help me. I don't think anyone at Rona ever has. Also when I have had to ask for help at Rona it's like I was getting in their way. Fuck that, you want my business then earn it. I'll gladly pay more to shop at a Canadian store if the service was good.

I find it hit or miss between the big 3 as far as price wars are concerned. The Rona on Warden doesn't have the all around selection that the Lowes a block away does. Home depot's people "seem" to know their stuff better than the other two.

+1 never been to Lowes but HD the staff is always helpful and friendly, returns are a cinch.

The Rona at Warden and Eglinton is probably the only one worth going to because they are always liquidating old stock. I've gotten some solid deals there on some stuff and they are more willing to bargain.

Rona in woodbridge is a hit or a miss. I find the biggest issue there is service, but on the flipside the one time I was there I found an old contractor who worked for them after he got injured and dude spent an hour with me helping me get all the stuff I needed for a project.

Rona just doesn't seem to carry some staple items especially when it comes to specialty jobs like plumbing/electrical.

I find myself going to Lowes more often than Home Depot these days. They have some decent sales but HD still has more stuff.
Sad to see another Canadian brand go.
Hope they keep the Rona only suppliers and spread them over all Lowes locations.

100% yes - it wouldn't be smart to run 2 separate formats and banners.

How about this: How come Canadian owned businesses just haven't learned to satisfy Canadian consumers? WTF?

And BTW, we also do it to american businesses too: Cue Target's Canadian failure!

Target. It's American owned and we pretty much snubbed Target the same way, and for much the same reason, as we snubbed Rona.

We do something to Canadian businesses. Then American businesses as well?
Whose businesses are those businesses that are not out of businesses in Canada?
