Both should work on your hot shoe.

I don't know what the idiot in the video was babbling about other than he's not quite sure how to make sure the flash's pins and the camera contacts are lined up in the hot shoe. It has nothing to do with the paint btw, my Pentax's hot shoe is painted and works fine. Looks similar to the Sony actually. The extra pins are there for TTL and high speed sync control, all you need for a manual flash is the center pin lined up with the center contact and metal to metal contact with the flash foot in the hot shoe and a shutter speed below the cameras max sync speed.

If my $60 flash doesn't work on my $600+ camera, I'm sending the damn flash back to B&H before I start taking the camera apart.

So are these the ones I should get?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PGTOX26/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1WCSKG2O1T7Q8

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NIDWTIC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1NZ7IEFV816B1

Would you do B&H over Amazon?

Would it be worth it to go to a TTL flash or practice with manual first?

Yes I tend to order from B&H over Amazon. I prefer ordering my camera equipment from a camera shop that's an authorized dealer for warranty, returns, etc. Plus I usually throw a couple rolls of film in with an order too.

If you just need a flash, get one that does TTL. You can always use it as a manual flash if you want, but that's best if you use it off camera.

I got these if anyone is wondering. I'll post how it works.

I opted against TTL for now because I'm not a professional more just playing around with it and the price of TTL's for Sony are ridiculous.

So with those, now you're working in full manual and no TTL. And you should double check that they'll work with Sony because Yongnuo usually works with specific systems (i.e. canon, nikon, etc).

Yeah I realize no TTL and I'm pretty sure they will work manually with Sony based on the reviews and things online.

When looking for the original review I read, I've found conflicting info! This should be fun!

UPDATE:

The products that I posted earlier work just fine with my NEX-6. I actually one extra Transmitter/Receiver because the YN560IV has a wireless receiver. I knew this going into it but the extra I can use on another camera or if I have a flash that's not Youngnuo.

The flash works in the hot shoe also but it's not a tight fit. It works but is slightly wobbly.

They're not always a tight fit. My SB800 on any camera i've owned has always had a slight wobble to it. Nothing to be concerned about unless the contacts start to short out, then i'd be concerned.

Haven't noticed a connectivity/shorting concern and the wobble isn't that bad. Overall pretty good!
