We use the capital one aspire elite MC. So far this year up to 147,833 points. I think last year we redeemed over 200k points for our annual vacation abroad.

if you're single i'd collect aeroplane perhaps via one of the TD or CIBC Visa Infinite products.

bank mad points and use those to redeem flight wisely, in biz or first class.

if you're saving for a family's vacation, get the best capital one card you can get.

i might also consider the Amex Gold for purchase and travel insurance coverage.

I am rocking the BMO World Elite Mastercard now. I did a lot of research and ended up with this card. This card and the Capital One Aspire Elite are the only cards on the market to offer 2 points per $1 spent.
I also value the 4 airport lounge passes each year with the BMO World Elite Card.

My first year annual fee was waived and I got 30,000 bonus points.

for the BMO elite, do i have to redeem the points through their BMO Rewards website?

Or do I get to call them and tell them to rebate me X dollars on a flight that cost X amount? This was how it was like with AMEx Gold and I found the process awesome.

fuck. i don't think they're wavering the 1st year fee.

i rocked the Cibc Aero infinite now it's TD area infinite (Crap, only because aeroplan is crap now).

My suggestions is

- Capital One Asipre
- TD First class travel infinte

Basically a card that is not specific to one airline and airline group of association

Its all about the flexibility.

Awesome points.
As well, i never redeem flight tickets. I just purchase my econ tickets and upgrade it to first/bus class. This gives you the most bang for your buck.

aeroplan has been sh!tastic lately. not sure why i even collect it.

i think i'm leaning towards BMO World Elite Mastercard IF they waiver that annual fee.

Call and ask. Not sure if they still have that promo for waiving the first year annual fee.

I got the info the other day actually. Some trips got more expensive, quite a few dropped though.

Would you use a cash back card or areoplan if you were going to drop a lot of $$$ on renos?

This is what you need - 2% cashback for travel (car rental/airbnb/hotel/flights/etc from ALL purchases, no limits, no b.s. no constraints).

depends on what you value more.

if you want to fly in the front, go with aeroplan.
if you're not much of a traveler, and rather have cash, or redeem for anything BUT flights in the front, cash back or other travel cards.

let's do the math!

you have 75K point now.

how much you spending on the CC? say...$15k?

if you go with AMEX/Aeroplan card, you'll get 25K bonus + 15K points for purchase. netting you 110K points.

that should get you 2 tickets to anywhere in N. America + approx 150$ in fees/ticket.

how does this sound to you?

If acceptance works, get the Amex Simplycash Preferred it gives you 5% cash back for the first 6 months.

Sounds good to me, thanks man \:\) Send me your referral link!!!

I think the Amex Aeroplan Plus/Gold

https://www.americanexpress.com/ca/en/content/aeroplan-gold-card/

...or the Amex Gold Reward Hybrid would be good choices (I'm looking at spending probably 40k or so through the card)

Mr. Bill, i'll send you a PM with my referral link.

definitely go with the Amex Gold Reward since first year is free (make sure you cancel after the first year, and re-apply after a few months to churn points!), but keep in mind that it's a charge card and it's not designed if you plan to carry a balance

Word up, that's the one I was planning on.. I've churned a few cards so far, it's kinda fun \:\) Set 6 month reminders, cancel, wait 6 months, re up! lol

Card won't have a balance and will be paid off every month for sure.

Rogers MasterCard is 1.75% cashback on everything. It's a no-frills card as far as insurance and stuff goes. But good returns.

it depends on what you want out of it...

are you just looking for straight up cash back?
are you looking to redeem for travel? are you willing to do the Aeroplan game?
are you planning to carry a balance?
