First noticed ascending stairs my right knee has pain ascending...
Then my left knee barks a little descending. Mind you only walking pace..

Then also my right kneecap has pain once in a while just walking around now \:o

And my right knee seems to have general PFS symptoms based on googling

I'm assuming these stair sessions I did this week nuked me lol old
I had also been increasing mileage way too much (30/miles week the last 2)

Woops

(There's another set of stairs above that one that goes up another 40' or so)

Guess I'm taking 2-4 weeks off now. I think this is the last time I will ever do a stairs workout

Do you stretch before/after? Your hips are usually the culprit for lots of knee related pain. I have had pain on the inside, outside and top of my knees from riding too much and not stretching enough. I've found that constantly stretching your hip flexors helps with most knee pain and IT band issues.

Yea, I'm just thinking I will never, ever, run stairs again in my age demographic \:D

Had 4+ mile jog warmup before each session too, did about 10x run up/walk down In The middle of a couple 6-7 mile runs... With cross fitters all over the stairs it seemed fun to join in..

Stairs are not worth the injury risk with whatever form problem I apparently must have. I figured it was a nice way to get in some quick vert. Yeah no

So CN for me: stairs = no bueno

I think you need to remember that you've done A LOT of changes over the last 2 years.

I wouldn't say NO stairs, but you're at the point where you should:
approach them slowly
Ramp down elsewhere in your training as you incorporate new elements.

I think a lot of people get injured around this phase, they've gotten a lot of fitness and have forgotten to SLOW DOWN (sound familiar op?)

no idea, I always assumed knee braces were in the placebo category? I know lifters swear by them , tho

probably cant hurt?

me I'm just going to put some biking miles in [~100/week which is a big ramp up for me lol] vs running for the next 4 weeks.

Hopefully the biking doesnt aggravate my knees in a different way lol

Agree on the hip theory. If it doesn't subside, time to see an ortho or PT.
