Just came back from a trip up the Alum Cave trail on Mt. Le Conte in the Smokies this weekend. Was checking my shots on the monitor this morning and come to find only about 25% are keepers, the rest just had too much blur going on.
I had the camera hanging from my neck at the beginning but the strap quickly became too hot and I had to hold the camera in my hand for the rest of the journey. I was thinking about maybe a side holster for the camera and some kind of quick release/magnetic/velcro ball mount on top of a walking stick.
Very minimal, it's just drop protection essentially. I prefer a hand strap, but the ergos on the 7R don't really allow for one, and this is the best alternative I've found.
I've got a carbon fiber induro monopod and use a black rapid strap for carrying my camera/lens. I've got a battery pack on my camera and a canon hand strap.
