Got nabbed doing 76 in a 50. $122.50 fine with 3 points on the record for 2yrs. Was trying to pass a slow ass driver.

I haven't gotten many speeding tickets and to be honest i think this is like my third maybe fourth in my 26yrs of driving.

Tickets don't look like they used to be. This is two 8x11 pieces of paper. One is for paying the fine and the other shows all the details and gives you the three usual options:

Option 1: pay
Option 2: early resolution-meet with prosecutor
Option 3: trial

Now is #2 the same as going in and talking to the jop and getting the fine reduced and lowering the speed? From what I remember in the past was that I went in, talked to someone, jop probably, and he reduced the fine and speed to 15 over with no points.

I know you guys always say to fight any kind of ticket but my main concern is the points and fine. So would #2 be my choice?

Also would you guys think this would affect my insurance with or without the points?

Thanks

i heard that if you don't change insurance for 3 years, they wont even notice that you have demerit points.

not sure if there's any truth to this.

Insurance doesn't care about demerit points.

Fight each and every ticket. Let the system prove that everything was working as it should when you received the ticket. If not, its not a valid ticket.
The prosecutor will just pressure you take a reduced plea, and a conviction is conviction in the eyes of insurance.

When was the last time you got your renewal papers and it listed how many points you have?

always take option 3.

if you have 26 years of driving experience, you must be in your 40s.
are you married? even if you just pay it, it should have MINIMAL impact on your insurance.

points don't have impact on your insurance, it does impact on you getting a license.

i have gotten 7 tickets but only had to pay for 2 so option 3 is the best bet

You wanna see my insurance papers? Demerit points absolutely make a difference, I've got 2 points coming off in about a month and my insurance is going to drop because of it. All of my infractions were listed on my renewal (Intact)

100% without a doubt points mean nothing to insurance. Convictions do.

If you get a moving violation ticket (not parking) it effects insurance even with 0 demerit points and fined $1.

They do list the infractions and if your tickets are coming off it's the reason for drop.

You are confusing convitions with demerit points. Insurance cares about convictions which stay on your insurance record for 3 years. Points drop after 2.

Why couldn't your bro-inlaw fix those tickets for you

If you need a guy that will actually get you off and not a reduced ticket, I highly recommend Todd at Mavericks legal services. This guy was the actual paralegal from Redline that did all the work and got them on the map. For some reason everyone knows the other guy Forch but he's not even a paralegal lol, he was just the customer service guy.

I still use Forch from (former) RedLine...

There's some crazy feud between the RedLine owners 'n shit ... Forch says the 'owner' took down the website and changed the pw to the site, and phone number or something, etc...

Google around for Forch's number... He's still 'my guy'...

He's out by 427/7 or some shit... can't remember.

Well that's reassuring LOL. Perhaps he's just that damn good and his cases never make it to court

Shitty thing is about a speeding ticket is a) its now three years before they come off your driving record, and b) insurance doesn't care if you were going 5 over or 48 over, they look at speeding tickets as minor, or major. You were either going over 50 over, or under 50 over. Its like theft under $5000 but for stealing something worth 10 bucks. \:\)

Sorry aboot your luck op, I'm in the same situation. First speeding ticket in 16 years, and I was going 12 over, and I have 1.5 more years until it comes off my record.

Did anything happen to your insurance rate?

Yes, after the first year.. Insurance companies don't always find out you have a ticket because they don't always do a search. If you've been with the same company for a long time, there's a chance they may not even look for it and your rate will stay the same. I'd only been with intact for a year, so at renewal time they looked back on the year and saw that I had a ticket. I think my insurance went up by $25 a month. \:\(
My broker said if it weren't for the ticket I would have dropped $60, so basically an $80 a month difference for a stupid speeding ticket.

Set your cruise.
