Suncor has stated they're reducing R&D spending by $1B.
Apple has stated currency swings have cost them $3.73B alone for this quarter... No layoffs doe.

IBM layoff packages (might be US packages only, unsure):

Lump sum payment equivalent to one week of pay for each fully completed six months of service based on most recent date of hire, with a minimum of two weeks and up to a maximum of 26 weeks. 6 months transition for medical.

Another source says 1wk/yr: Have not seen it yet but apparently the standard package—1 week per year max 26 weeks.

My profit sharing and VCP are the biggest in the past 5 years. MVA for those retiring is at 28% down from %35 though.

These cuts(outside of oil companies) were coming regardless of oil prices. Oil had a long enough run. It was time for another bust. \:\|


Maybe Ontario can get some jobs back that high oil prices crushed here.

Apple holds probably 150 billion dollars overseas right now that they haven't repatriated to avoid taxes, so 4 billion is nothing.
