So the 6d finally fell down to 1299.99 (body only) after rebate (via canonpricewatch's street price), and I pulled the trigger. I hate spending that much money, but I've wanted one for a while and since I got a wedding this summer I'd have to rent something decent anyway... so I pulled the trigger.

Now we'll see if I keep it ;\)

ps- I guess my 5d mk1 is for sale lol

Atta boy, I think you'll like it. I didn't know they were that cheap now, I've been thinking of selling my 5D2 for a grand lately, not sure if it'll pull that much with the 6D that cheap though.

I bet if you sold it soonish you could at least get close. The used full frame prices have stayed a little more resilient than I expected with the 6d getting cheaper.

I'm torn on selling it. AF is basically an afterthought on the A7R with my adapted lenses, and having a body with relatively quick AF is good at times, I shot an "event" (my parent's 50th) with my 5D2 a few months back, would've been a royal pain in the ass slash impossible with my Sony, but I'm not entirely sure my S120 wouldn't have gotten the job done about as well for what my parents are using the files for with much less hassle and heft . . .

Yeah... That is tricky. I guess it comes down to whether or not you'll need more than the s120 for future events. Id probably end up regretting it in your shoes, but I make be decisions all the time lol

8000-10000 ISO of usability is fucking goddamn incredible. I'm able to use to my 24-105 f4 in my house when dimly lit for the first time ever, and my 35 f2 IS is unstopable.

I've been reviewing last year's trip to Banff and stuff shot with the 35 IS, and it really is a great little lens, sharp across the frame and pretty small and cheap compared the 1.4 options. I hope Canon updates the 50 this year in the same vein, I'm really tired of my 1.4, the build quality is just shit compared to their newer stuff. Manually focusing is painful compared to the newer stuff or L stuff.

Yeah I'm not really happy with any of canon's 50mm options. The 1.2 just doesn't have the IQ it should for the cost, the 50 1.4s ca drove me kinda nuts and I think canon should make it more robust than it is, and the 50 1.8 is just too fragile with less than ideal color and bokeh and focusing. (Though for the price it's still a steal IMHO). Having had the 1.4 and 1.8 I'm fine with just using the 1.8 until they come out with something significantly better In a higher price bracket. Or drop the 1.2 at least a couple hundred dollars below the current best sale prices, cause I would LOVE a 1.2 lens.

Naw. It's a shame it can't do ff too \:\(

Fly, I've thought about the sigma 50 more than once... I'm still not entirely sure I'm ready to mess with third party and the potential hassle of focus niggles/annoyances.

I'm down with it, but having played with it at the LCS, it is a BRICK. Weighs as much as my 24-70 and more than my 16-35. The Zeiss 55 1.8 is as good optically, costs about the same, and weighs a third as much. I kinda want something half the price though, which is why I'll probably wait for Canon to refresh the 50. They'll probably throw in IS too.

I have two Sigma lenses. The 150-500mm F5-6.3 and the newish 18-35mm F1.8.

I like them, they are both really well put together lenses, especially the 18-35 lens, that thing is a brick. This feature they have where you can buy a dock and do micro focus adjustments and lens firmware updates is supposed to be really neat. The only thing I don't like is that I bought my 150-500 lens right before they announced the 150-600. The 150-500 is older and doesn't have the ability for firmware updates and micro focus adjustment via a dock like the 150-600 does.

Oh yeah, total fantasy realm. And now that the 16-35 f4 IS is dipping down to just over $1000 I'm not even sure I could justify the 11-24 if I had 2500-3000 to spend on lenses. That's a 16-35f4 is AND a 70-200 2.8 IS II lol /perspective

I'm sure one day sigma will get me.... Not sure with which lens but somehow.

The 16-35 IS is very very good, it's my new walk around lens. I grabbed it when they had a hundred dollar rebate.
