Yeeeeep sucks the D. Went to Denver and Seattle this month, some things balance out as far as food/booze being cheaper but eating out at nicer restaurants and shopping wasn't as fun as the not so distant past.

do you want cheap gas & mortgage payments or cheap US$$$
in canada, we can't have it all I save $8-10 per fill up with the current gas price. But my mortgage is not $800/month. So I would rather have cheaper USD. I never add up the amount I spend online annually but the saving could be significant if the USD is cheaper.
spend more domesticallly, drive up prices, create inflation, which will lead to higher interest rates and it'll strengthen the dollar.

Well sure but I'm a cheap ass and live a pretty lean lifestyle, so it doesn't feel like I just got a raise. Also no more inclined to go to the US (Even though I go regularly and use my USD CC to avoid conversion fees).
how does the income tax work out? do you pay torwards the federal and provincial income tax? along with CPP?

Yes. They will still need to contribute just like everyone else. Only difference is if they are self employed they will deductions based on net pay after all expenses.
