I have this and do not like it: http://www.manfrotto.us/horizontal-grip-action-ball-head-with-rc2-rapid-connect

I have a Manfrotto 055MF4 tripod. It's been replaced by another model, but I'm happy with it overall.
http://www.manfrotto.com/055-mag-fiber-tripod-4-sct
http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-055MF4-4-Section-Tripod/dp/B0009HJ65O/ref=cm_cr_pr_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

Any recommendations on a head? I don't like the trigger head I have because of how jerky it is to move the camera. Sometimes it's easier to pick up the tripod and rotate the entire thing than to precisely get the head pointing the right direction. I do like the quick release plate though.

Any thoughts on monopods? Worth it?

I should have specified a budget. $300 or less for the head.

This is the newer version of what I bought in 1999. This is still my only head. Buy once, buy right. All I have to do with this is clean it a few times a year.

I'v got the smaller Induro, and while I've not had any premium ballhead experience, I have no problems recommending this to anyone http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/655333-REG/Induro_479_000_BHD0_Ballhead.html

It's been stable with my full-size bodies and any lens I've put on it, which is up to 70-200

I've got 2 Induro ballheads, love them both. I have the BHD0 and BHD2 or 3 or something... Both are stable with my 5d3 or gripped 7d and Canon 70-200L IS II 2.8 and 100-400L lenses.

I use the BDH0 on my monopod and while hiking. I use the bigger one permanently mounted on my big legs.

I really like this.

Yea I really like geared heads. Other than being bigger and heavier, it really works well for fine tuning.

I have a RRS BH-40. Got it because buy once, cry once. It's been stellar.

You guys are leaving out the cost of the Arca-Swiss plates for all those heads you're listing.

About $60 per plate for Arca Swiss.

Anyone ever use an Acratech GP? I need a smaller / lighter head and it looks pretty sweet.

I got my Kirk L Bracket used from POTN or FM. I forgot. I think it was like $60.
