I know of a really good kitchen guy, but I wouldn't use him if you plan to sell the house, only if you want a solid kitch + long term. Otherwise get some kijiji guys to slap you together an ikea kitchen and call it a day.

There are a bunch of cheap Chinese guys around here too, don't know what their quality is like, but if you are gonna sell might as well go with whatever is cheapest.

we are not %100 on selling, so i dont want an overly cheap kitchen. I want somthing nice, solid wood, but not a huge over the top kitchen.

The guy we had come last night was saying granite and quartz are almost the same price right now. Just about %5-%7 more for quartz

The kitchen is a good size, need 20ft of cabinet on one wall and 10ft on the other, plus an island plus a small piece over the fridge

What's your budget?

I don't think you will be able to afford solid wood unless you sell the rarri. (Solid wood is overkill anyway, imo of course).

i dunno haha, one place brampton kitchens i think it was, was 12k plus 4k in counter tops. that was white, i forgot what kind of wood.
but man the colors they offered in that price range where not very nice.
i'd like to keep it under 20k i guess

Dude there's this cheap chineese guy from Markham that my family has been using for hardwood....Wut? Anyways, his work is amazing, he can barely speak English but his floors are boss.

Op, maybe do the counters and the cabinets and DIY the rest? Back splash is so simple, same with a new sink if you wanted one, floors too. Your a handy guy, you can do an engine out on a rarri you can do some kitchen crap

+1 on ikea.

When I redo my kitchen that's where the cabinets are coming from.

I already did one in my basement 3 years ago, has held up well.

Had good luck with Aya kitchen. They seem to do "no tax" or XX% off events often.
But had a horrible experience with non English speaking China men granite people. They came like 4-5 times for missing measurement, and took a dump during one of those trips. Then when we complained about the less than pleasant finish on their work, they even made it worse. I tried to stop what they were doing, but he didn't understand a word I was saying to him.
Next day, the English speaking boss came to see it. Acknowledged their shitty job. We didn't pay him the rest of money we owed.

Already wasting my time for his 2 minute measuring job and he asks where the bathroom is and comes back in 10 minutes while I stand in the kitchen.

That doesn't seem unreasonable. If you were at a clients house and had to go and couldn't wait I'm sure you would appreciate if they let you use their bathroom. Unless of course you are like women who don't poop lol

exactly, sometimes it's better to just get somthing done, than saving $2-300 and having to waste a weekend or two.

lol I was gonna say.

Its ok not everyone is handy, but making excuses is another :p

My buddy had to setup his tools, work on his basement, then clean up after he was done and put everything away because his kid would use the basement when he was not working on it. Maybe had 45 mins of solid work each time he setup. But he pulled through and finished it himself. Its all about dedication if you can do it yourself.
