Thought you guys might like this. I failed the etest, HC at idle over 1500 lol. Limit is 200
I tested my fuel pressure regulators and they where bad. Not an easy part to find. I called Ferrari and they wanted $500 a pop (need 2). Thanks to Ferrari chat there where other part numbers that NaPa carries that fit. I was able to track down the last one in Canada for $100, and got one off ebay for $96, sweet. Also did newO2s. Rock auto price $120 for both, Ferrari price $450 a pop!!!
Still no good, so after doing some reading it could be the thermostat. This one was tricky as you really need a 90deg thermostat. The factory one is 82c and is just too cold ( ECU richens the mixture until the coolant is 82deg). No good aftermarket ones exist anymore and Ferrari wanted $245. After some searching on rock auto I found a 1980 vw rabbit one is perfect and NAPA had it in stock $20
Better but my nose said it was still rich. Next up coolant sensors, shared with a bunch of cars. Ferrari price around $200 each need 2. Parts source price, $26 each and in stock.
Ferrari prices - around 3k !! Plus god knows how much they charge an hour for labour. Cheap ass total - ~ $400 and only a mildly annoyed wife after spending so long in the garage lol
Passed an etest today
So there you go, if you can turn a wrench and do some research you can fix a Ferrari on a Honda budget. I did most of this research before buying the 348, to make sure I wasn't getting in over my head.

wow. nice kill.
so how much time / labour did it took to change all those parts? (might as well add in "typical" labour rates for comparison too).
hopefully you won't run into the need for more parts in which it's "the last one in canada" later on.

damn but nice job with cutting the price down, you gave every brown, yellow and jew man an erection.
Hahahaha. I could have penny pinched a bit more. Rock auto has the thermostat for $7 and the sensors for $11 lol
RockAuto They are great. The only thing that sucks is if you have to return parts. I originally bough the FPRs from them but where wrong. I should have just kept them and sold them on ebay or kijiji
Lies it's not special ferrari and will fall apart next week Badass
Lol thanks

So if you took it to a normal shop that charges what $100/hr here is the break down. But once you say ferrari they may up their rates lol Fuel pressure regulators lets say 2 hours. First took me an hour, second took me 30min O2s, about 30min for both Thermostat, about 2 hours. This was the worst of all as it's against the firewall and I had to remove 1 FPR again. Coolant sensors- 1 hour. Under the intake manifold, but you can get access by removing the airbox then the oil pressure sender, then moving some wires out of the way. So $500-$600 if you had to pay someone. The car is easy to work on. Easier than a Subaru I think
As for parts, if none in canada the US has em. Just means I would need to wait a few days

Good job man, this is the great thing about older cars. I am assuming you can't use a lada fuel pump in a 458 nowadays...or are there still interchangable parts for current gens?
Good kill doe, more pix would be nice too.

There probably are interchangeable parts even with the new cars, not every part is made just for a ferrari.
Haha I'll get some more pics

So maybe the phrase "more than you can afford pal, Ferrari!" doesn't really apply. :p
