I need new all-seasons for the beater ... 185/65/R15

The BFG Advantage T/A's are starting to go bald ... They didn't have much grip to begin with; I was able to spin the tires a bit, even with an auto tranny when I first bought them. (Plus, one has pretty bad feathering)

Kumho? Hankook? Or same shit?

Cheaper would be better .... Else I may get the same shit again, from Tires23.

Going to US probably isn't an option.

Tires23 prices are reasonable.

sounds like you answered your own question?

Just get some ChinA made tires (Triangle or Sailun) if you want to be cheap but safety > *

Just call Billy and ask him for a decent set of 15s, shouldn't cost more than $400 CAD

furbal, try braidan tire at 48 north of 16th. I've heard lots of good things about him and pricing is also fair, they also run specials and may even do price matches. Beats spending hours of your time driving to mississauga.

If you're going for cheap go to Walmart. You'll be happy for what you're looking for.

Simplytire is solid, been a repeat customer there for years. If you wait a little bit he will probably have his annual RFD groupbuy.

simply tire is the east end's Tires23

i bought a set from them years ago.

they have a thread in the RFD BST Automotive forum clearning out some current stock, you may want to check that out. They also do a annual group buy for winters which i'm waiting for

what kind of snow tires are y'all running on your car(s) this coming season??

I had the Hankook iPike W409 on my Audi, should I get those for the 328 as well, or should i explore something "better"?

mostly highway driving, and some downtown driving, roads are usually cleared within first 24 hours.

I have the ipike on my civic. It's better than all seasons, but as a snow tire, it's "ok".

If my 500lb/ft car did fine with them and you had issues with those tires...well you suck then

Ive been using the w409 for a few seasons now on my Veloster and my Civic before that. Great tire IMO, especially in the deep stuff. Kinda loud and mushy on dry roads, but a sweet snow tire. But, I think I read that Hankook is replacing them with something else, the w419 I believe it called.

Allen from SimpleTire recommended the w419 or the General Altimax Arctic is a lower cost winter and the new Blizzak WS80 for a premium tire.

That's pretty cool, but I fail to see the dollar benefit unless you have a bunch of them lined up and one operator can run 4 at the same time (for example).

For the down time that the tech has, not sure how he can be utilized since he still has to sit and baby sit the machine, just work less.

^ Probably not so much to speed up a tire change, but reduce the potential injury claims (the guy hurting himself w/ the pry bar prying the tire off the rim) and damage claims (from customers saying their rims got gouge by said same screw ups).

for the amt of cars being prepped at our office for all the various events, not to mention tons of employee cars etc. it's worth it for our case. and well, guess they had budget left over lol, boom.

but yeah for a reg shop, doubt they'd get something like this for now lol.

i just grabbed a set of 195/55/15 hankook optimo 4s 'all weather' tires from crappy tire for this upcoming winter season, they were on sale and the mngr knocks a bit more off for me which helps. the price after tax pretty much came out to what it would cost to get a similar tire from the US. for this model tho crappy tire is the exclusive carrier of the tire.

i wanted to go with one of the hakka all-weathers but they're more expensive...not worth it for me given the limited distance driving i do in the R, esp in winter. i'm interested to see *dat feel* with these, since i've never had an 'all weather' tire before...i'm assuming it'll slot nicely in between a half decent all season and pure winter tire.

lol dude? i've driven most of my winters (in beater cars) in semi worn all seasons most of my life, maybe had an issues 1-2 times in all those years. all weathers will be a nice upgrade for me \:D (see peasant).

mind you i've driven in pure winters too like most and nothing beats those, but honestly the snow here isn't that bad (save for last winter which was a one off). all-weathers are great in the snow brah (they're cert'd as winter tires) but just slightly geared closer to an all-season vs. pure winter....yet you still get all the benefits of a winter without given up shitty ride/handling characteristics. given they're going on a 'sporty' type car, it's a perfect fit in my books. \:\)

do your research - i'd take the nokia wrg3 over a shitty winter tire even lol. if they were going on my mythical M5, then yeah i'd do a nice full winter tire or something.
