This has been a summer of shattered PRs for me. My goals for this year were to run a 6 minute mile, deadlift 460lbs, squat 425 and C&J 250, all of which I achieved:

1 Mile: 5:54
Deadlift: 465
Squat: 425
C&J: 265

Guess I need to revise the goals for the rest of the year. What have been your victories this year and what do you want still want to try to achieve?

nothing noteworthy here, except hitting a new high weight when being relatively lean at 229lbs...

Did hack squat 5 plates recently which I've never done before...

Gigantor how big are you, cause I'd have to think 465 is just a stepping stone for you...?

i have a stupid cycling one that i've been after for a few months.

i've been shooting for a specific KOM (that resets yearly). It's a relatively short hill, only 500 meters or so. you can really attack the base of it, but it peaks into a 8-10% for 50-75 meters or so which knocks you on your ass.

the record is 1:05. i'm sitting at 1:11 right now. to get the record i would need an average power output of 375W, right now @343W. Seems so close, but so far away...

I'm 6'7" and about 245lbs. My ultimate goal is 550lb deadlift, 475 squat, while still running a sub 6 minute mile.

I'm not that strong, and I don't do races, so I guess my victory would be more indoor soccer championships this year than ever before. I don't know if team sports count, though. Can't do it all on my own.

This year's victories:

Rode a century faster this year than last year

Stuck with running and didn't hurt myself (yet)

Did a fair amount of brick workouts

Ran a 10k

Set to put in a good amount more miles in this year than last year

Goal? Try out cyclocross recreationally for conditioning.

Damn that's fast and for a while for a big dude!!

Honestly, not one goal or PR achieved. I've definitely gotten lean and more vascular, but my strength seemed to peak last summer. I'm running a bit more constitantly(but still not great), and I could probably crack into sub 7/pace on a 5km. Maybe I should set that for a goal before year-end. Tough to do much serious training this year.

I'm pretty content with status quo right now. I'm in great all around shape and strong.

I'd have to sacrifice either fitness, fatness or strength if I was to really improve in either area.

sexy

I'm getting strong as fuck...

repping 355 on squats like it's 250, and deadlift strength is getting retarded too. 500+ is coming in 2 weeks.

I plan to get it eventually, maybe a few years. From what I've heard, the recovery is pretty shitty.

A few sessions of PT really helped though. The exercises pretty much got rid of the pain. I'll still get a bit of a sting here and there, but before PT it was daily.

Srs question: wouldn't you rather be down for a few months so you can start lifting heavy again instead of just delaying the inevitable?

I was just down for 6 months due to wrist surgery and I'm still paying for it....literally. This was my second major wrist surgery in 3 years. No way in hell and am I ready for another. I'm not Wayne, lifting isn't my life.

Exercises.

All I was told is that I have a partially torn labrum and not the most severe case, which is why surgery isn't a must.

Are you talking to me or him Drew...?

For me, I could probably "live with it" and I'm approaching 40, so how much more time do I have to add muscle...? Not to mention I've recently hopped onto the "dark side" and would rather wait a bit vs halting my progress right now...

Either one of you \:\)

I guess that makes sense. But since you're on the dark side, aren't you more at risk for further injury by pushing it further? I honestly have no idea -- just asking. I've just read so many reports of guys pushing more weight more quickly than their body's support structure can adapt.

Completed my first marathon, followed by a 2nd one 8 weeks later.

Completed my first triathlon. Prior to May, I hadn't biked or swam in well over a decade.

i'm not on anything crazy and while strength gains are being made, they are not the things of super human... other compounds tend to pile on the strength quicker and then yeah those things also do cause joint issues, which leads to adding another compound to counteract that...

How does this work, obviously you have to be under the official limit, but do they go fastest->slowest from there to pick people that're allowed to enter Boston? Or is it a straight-up lottery for everyone under the limit?

Registration will occur on a “rolling admission” schedule, beginning with the fastest qualifiers.
On Monday, September 8, eligible runners who have met the qualifying standard for their age and gender by 20 minutes or more may register.
On Wednesday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m. ET, if space remains, registration will open for those who have met their qualifying standard by 10 minutes or more.
If space remains, registration will open on Friday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. ET for those who have met their qualifying standard by five minutes or more.
Registration will close on Saturday, September 13 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
If space remains after the first week of registration (Monday, September 8 through Saturday, September 13), then registration will re-open for all qualifiers from Monday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. ET through Wednesday, September 17 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
As during the first week of registration, entry during this period (September 15 - 17) will not be first-come, first-served and the fastest qualifiers in their gender and age group among these submissions will be given entry as space allows.
If space remains after this initial period, then on Monday, September 22 registration will re-open to anyone who meets the qualifying standards.
Registration will remain open on a first-come, first-served basis until the maximum field size is reached.

Tonight, just an hour or two ago, flat bench 6 plates 6 times (fatass crew, I weigh 265)

I haven't been able to do that since I was 25 years old (9 years ago). 6 months ago I couldn't bench 225 for more than a couple reps... now I warm up with it

Nothing put into my body other than whey and glutamine for recovery. I've been a lifter for many, many years, but took 1-2 years off being a lazy fatass. I went from 250lbs up to 285, back down to 265 now, and I'm about as strong as I ever was (I was heavier back when I used to lift this much, in my 20's)

I liked it for about a month. Then it got to be way too much volume, even at a 30 rep limit. IMO, that is a routine for younger guys, or guys on gear. I developed pains I've never had before because of that routine. Switched to the All Pro Intermediate and have performed and felt much better.

Hmm, interesting, at least you know your body well enough to know something isn't right. I'll still probably give it a try as right now me changing things up means switching up from 8-10 reps to ~6 rep range and then back to higher reps. Need to start shaking things up more soon.

Put up 200x12 on bench this week at 6'4 195 lbs with crazy long arms.

Nice link, thanks for sharing. Will give this a go at some point in the coming weeks.

I liked it for about a month. Then it got to be way too much volume, even at a 30 rep limit. IMO, that is a routine for younger guys, or guys on gear. I developed pains I've never had before because of that routine. Switched to the All Pro Intermediate and have performed and felt much better.

I don't do anywhere close to the number of different exercises he listed, I picked about half from the list.

As far as accomplishments, I've gained about 10-12 pounds and have officially outgrew my first pair of jeans, woot!
