Schnell Schnell Schnell. Im logged into clubbmw, right?

After some great service, mpg and dem direct feelzzz the civic was in dire need of a laundry list of parts. So I did what any normal person would do. Buy an old, out of warranty , high mileage, prone to needing a lot of parts itself Bmw.

This could turn out to be bad idea.
We are now an all, out of warranty, german garage.

I was looking at tdi wagons but they are pretty damn pricey. And this is a nicer car overall ;\)
Also had a matrix a couple of times...but it never panned out.

'02 325iT. 250k km.
5mt y0... FIVE. Not that lame ass 6mt. Back when titty was learning the ropes at cab driving school. Cars came with 5 gears.

Out with the old. In with the slightly less old. My boy Faraz coming to pick up his families new Bentley.

The tourings have a higher final drive = revs like a b16...without that b16 redline \:\|
wow such mpg

its natural habitat

dat utility

This thing is like a caddy. So soft, lacks a lot of feelz, but thats ok for now. Makes the e36 feel old school and special. Where the civic had just as much direct feel. I do miss the cable throttle a lot. Its faster than the civic, but still slow as balls.
Abysmal mpg compared to the civic \:\|

M3 still insured just like it was with the civic and will continue to get driven on weekends and select evenings.

I wanted a wagon of sorts before I got the civic. Something that has some utility to it. The sedean is even less practical than the coupe. With a coupes big doors you can get more stuff in it. Pop a passenger seat out and you can fit a lot ;). Harder to get stuff through the sedan doors. So something with a hatch was in order.

My short list was
matrix
jetta tdi wagon
e39 5 series wagon..but goodluck with that in manual+ generally needs much more work(usually older, more complex and touring specific issues)

This post is amazing.

And wagon because 5 doors is always better than 4.

Good pick Euphie!

Edit: Matrix? Really?

Next edit: Did you manage to score one in a manual gearbox?

thanks!
and ya I was super close to getting one.
Even though I didnt like how it felt or how you sat. Its like the standing position the recycle truck driver uses

But toyota = reliable, great mpg and the seats fold down flat(even the front passenger).

I am toying around with the idea of tint(tintSSSSS).

Was the rear pass side door repainted?

Love that car, not a fan of the premium gas doe. Should've bought a matrix xrs 6 spd

also, you can *borrow* and never return Wayne's Thule carrier since he will never use it. Mega utility then.

I'd do a light tint for sure. Also get the dog fence thing then we can put c2k in the back and drive him around mississauga.

I dont think so(re:backdoor)...the drives side front is definitely a different shade though. \:\|

it does list a claim on the carproof but with $0. Car checks out overall Im not too concerned.

Ill run 89 in it. I think it could give an xrs a good run for its money.

Nothing died per se. *warning novel* Car was still functional and started up everyday no problem and got great emm pee gee.

However heres a list of things that needed addressing. Most of which all came forward after this past winter. The car got smoked this winter.

-A/C pulley bearing needed to be replaced(off the car, so no a/c for a while)
-Valvecover gasket
-oil pan gasket
-transmission input shaft bearing(it was super loud at this point and the biggest job on the car. need to pull the trans and crack it open to fix. common issue. It was at the point that I felt any day it could just fail.)
-brake bleed(had to push the pedal a lot to get any stopping, though it still worked)
-front right ball joint and tie rod need replacing. Plus most of the other ball joints could probably be replaced. I had just done the driver side lower balljoint and tie rod 2 months ago)
-all rear end bushings were shot. no clunks but they were bad. Car had developed an odd rear end wiggle over bumps at highway speed lol due to the bushings.
-pcv valve needed replacing(cheap but a bit of a pita)
-muffler fell off (Which I replaced not too long ago...and promptly uninstalled before it got taken away \:\| )

Theres no way that car should pass safety as it sits unless you know a guy. Car body was pretty clean overall and brake lines still look great.
But it was just too much to deal with to get it up to spec. it served its purpose.
The parts cost wouldnt have been crazy to fix, but I just didnt care to put the time in to do the work on that kind of beater. And a few of those jobs are very time intensive.

I was looking solely at e39s for over a year. But it just wasnt going to happen. I made the call to look into the e46. Easier to come by, Im familiar with it and its less prone to issues than the e39t would be.

Not my favourite looking thing, but its clean. I actually think silver looks good on it and its got more space than the civic. Its just a more relaxed drive. Civic was very direct. Which in turn would make me want to rip the hell out of it. Which was fun at times. But started to get a bit frustrating in traffic, in the heat with no a/c. Fine if you are in shorts and a t-shirt. Not so much in dress pants and long sleeve shirt work clothes.

So I welcome the change.
My insurance dropped quite a bit too.

How many k's did the civic have? My beater is still going strong, although the AC is weak now, I'm hoping to get another 2 years out of it lol. I put on a whopping 600kms/mth on it.

Nice pick up on the touring, that couldn't have been that easy to find.

292k on the civic. It sat outside for quite sometime before I bought it, which is never good for any car/rubber bits. Most of that stuff was still ok/fine before winter. But it was a harsh winter and it took its toll and took whatever life was left.

I do like 600/week in it

It actually wasnt that difficult to find. I hadnt really been looking for one of these. But after a nice commute home one evening. I was soaked(in my work clothes). Was browsing the forums and saw it. I shot the guy a message and he was pretty close...so I figured I would just go look at it since it was not far. I dun goofed. Not long after it was mine. After a couple matrix fell through the cracks..this just happened so easily.

There is another one that just came up(less mileage, but more money)

I don't understand why you drive a piece of shit car on a daily basis and not the M3 when you have a short commute? You can't afford the depreciation on it or something?
