My current civic is quite tired and so I'm considering an EP3. Any reasons not to pick one up?

Haha, that's what I've been reading. But the EP3 is about 400lb heavier than my sedan. With 30hp more than what I'm driving now, I figure it should feel about the same. So yes, adequate would be the perfect word to describe it.

Something's up with my b20... I'm getting around 10l/100km. I'm pretty sure the EP will be a little better.

Had the same motor in the rsx. If you don't plan on racing the thing that motor pulls hard enough. All I had was a intake (mad hp yo) and I did a hwy pull with my buddies civic si coupe with intake, exhaust and flash pro. He pulled 1/2 a car on me and that was mostly due to the 6spd. That a3 has torque; just be prepared that if the IACV goes it's a $400 part and there's no aftermarket.

You're stupid, the shifter location is actually quite smart. So close to the steering wheel.

It was an ok car, loved the utility of the hatch. Power was adequate for a DD, however it is an understeering turd to the max.

^word. The Ep3 pushes like mad. Hatorade even had koni yellows and a larger rsb on his. Though I dont know what his alignment figures were...

The shifter position is definitely good. It may look weird, but the driving position is pretty spot on. IIRC you can expect 9l/100

All the newer Honda layouts work well. Even space ship dash. It's ugly but it works so well

Whoa whoa whoa.. so there's a lot of understeer even with a big fat rear bar? That's not good. But still can't be as bad as my current sedan...

Planning on test driving one in the next couple of weeks. Just gotta find a dirty car lot with one for me to try.

Honestly, the push is likely only a problem on the track.
You won't really hit the understeer limit on the street often (if at all). I don't think it's a big deal unless you will track it.

And Hatorade: what do you think "bigger rsb" is XD That = type s sway \:D

Fatso--have you driven the current si? I drove the prev one (same car but 2.0L motor) and it has more rotation than the ep does. WAY MORE. however, it also has way more on throttle push than the ep3 does. Depends what you like.
Ultimately, it seems that the newer honda's all are more pushy than the old.

EDIT: regarding EP3 understeer, if memory serves, Hatorades car was worst on entry. You couldnt' get the car to turn in. I bet part of it was his lack of camber (mac strut with no camber bolts) and he may have been running stock toe. Regardless, it was rEALLY BAD. He was manhandling the car and it wouldn't rotate. His car was 3wheeling too but even still. Push everywhere.
I don't know what pressures he ran doe.

lol worrying about 'understeer' so much for DD - most cars won't be that bad condition until you push it at the track (not sure if you're planning to do that with this car?).

but anyways, yes it has it...many cars as bad if not worse even, but nothing to be remotely worried about for a dd. if you're scrubbing out on public roads...you're driving like a fukin maniac in that case and i wouldnt wanna be within 100 yards of you.

rear bar, will help only so much. you can 'fix' it but modding what you can on the suspension, but once you change something...it'll usually entail changing something else.

hey, I enjoy on ramps in my current DD. For a while, my alternate route to work has some nice S curves with elevation changes in them.

Well, that's sort of the reason why I'm asking about the understeer. I only track maybe 3 or 4 times per year (next outing is @ DDT on Sep 6 if anyone's interested) and so really, push is only an issue on those occasions. In the current car, I've adapted to it a little bit by adding a 26mm rear sway and run about 44psi in the rear tires (vs 38 in the front). Add a bit of trail braking and I think I've done ok. Guess I was just a little surprised to read about push being such a big issue with something that bears an SiR badge. Well... guess it's still a civic after all.

How much? I want in!

And yes, trail braking, left foot etc will help out. But I remember I was really appalled at how bad the ep3 was. If you see how these cars look like when lowered, you might see why it has all that push. The rear camber gain is HUGE. Front has essentially none XD

It can be fixed. Go with that huge bar. 26mm holy moly XD

$339 for the full day (8am-sundown). It's the same group of guys I always go with (www.gruppewerks.com) - so mostly BMWs and Porsches. And my civic \:D Last year, we were at Calabogie for most of the track days - this year's been at DDT.

Oh, I'm also running HP+ pads in the back and regular street pads in the front That's helped me bring the back around too!

Edit: mismatched tires too. RA1 in the front and R888 in the back.
