Been waiting for this day for months! Finally getting the boat out for a few days of fishing this weekend. Hauling it down to St.Catharines, going to fish the Niagara Bar and most likely around Port Weller for some browns. Also got a new planner board setup I'm dying to try. Weather looks great!

The only time I drink while fishing is on fly-in trips, never ever out in big water like that

Do you keep the fish that you catch? I think I recall reading that you don't.
I'll keep the odd one (Not out of Lake Ontario though) for the oldman to eat. I'm allergic.

Not allergic to seafood, only freshwater fish. I love me some lobster, scallops, crabs, shrimp!!!!!

Thanks bud Going to drift the bar for lakers/whatever Friday, then troll the shallows for brownies on Sat (If the Bar doesn't fish again)..
I just picked up a new planner board mast and a couple of sweet boards I'm dying to try out. Going to be running like 7.5ft ML spinning rods, should be a riot if we happen to hook up

I need a 7 ML this year. My UL is too light, and my medium is overkill for using jigs..

At least the weather was nice this weekend! Ran out from Weller to fish the bar Friday morning at around 6am, got there and found giant chunks of ice everywhere and 35 degree water  Even live emeralds wouldn't entice those fucking fish. Saw about a dozen boats, not a fish landed on any of them from what I could see in 2-3 hours. Picked back up ran back to Weller and trolled around in the shallows with zero luck.
Sat morning launched again at Weller and ripped over to Jordan and fished the really shallow water with planner boards (6-20ft).. Got a nice fat male brownie on a Live Target smelt off the inside board in about 8ft of water. South winds pushed all the warm water out about a km, so I ran out, found like 47 degrees and dropped a dreamweaver spoon 5ft off bottom. 10mins later I got a nice natural lake trout of maybe 6lbs... Trolled around a bit more and lost a really nice steelhead. Huge rip, big jump and it bent the hooks.. I'll be back in about 3 weeks when the water warms up.
Boat ran fucking great, only burnt about a half tank of fuel and I got my first sun burn of the season
Oh yeah, I ran 7.5ft ML custom Rainshadow spinning rods off the boards with 1000 series reels, lol!!! Super super fun.. Way better then bringing in those fish off dipsy or rigger setups. Although I was waiting to hook into a spring King and get spooled.
