Coming from the guy with a Madone + CF tubulars?!?!?! :p
Those bars are like 15 years old man. It's from the Cippolini era.
Probably cost less than your OE handlebar :p

EDIT2: Shaun, they have the Timex Vertical Challenge if you're interested. Race up Scenic Caves Rd. 2.5km at 12% gradient. They also have the open hill climb challenge which is for everyone interested. ;\)

Went to Collingwood in early spring with a group of guys years ago and we had a mini TT up the hill to the scenic caves. I remember that being a really awesome climb and also wishing I had a 3rd ring up front on my road bike.
That weekend I did that climb twice, but the second time I went past the caves and all the way to the top. Riding back down that same road on a skinny tire bike is absolutely awesome but scary as fuck. This picture of my speedo was the max speed I reached riding the road down. Don't think i'd have the balls to do it again.

Yeah, and Scenic Caves is actually a bit chopped up now so I wouldn't day fly down now.
My tops is 84km/h... and that was down Horseshoe Valley Rd. Max I got this year in the race was 81km/h... It's insane how loud the wind gets above 70.

Cipollini has a store in Yorkville.

Shaun, why don't you do the 25 and 50... and the Timex Vertical Challenge ;\) There's your physical exertion for the weekend!

Shane "The Monster" can too!
Wayne, you should do the open climb and test your mettle. I will do it with you.

OK will sign up tomorrow for the 80k.
How much of a problem do you forsee this to be if I only have 1 bottle? It's all I got man... I can squeeze 2, but then I gotta forgo having a spare tube...not sure that's wise at all.

No bottle bosses on my frame. So my "watter bottle cages" = jersey pockets. FTW

It's easy to make provisions for water bottle cages on your frame.

Just use a couple of these.

Getting there, I even had 2 beers before I went

Only adjustment I did is I stayed in higher gears on all hills and minimized changes/making it easier. I definitely felt I gained most of my speed on the elevations.

Horsehoe valley is just a huge straight downhill though correct? My fear on the scenic caves road isn't doing 80km/h+, the bike actually feels stable at those speeds, it's trying to make the numerous turns on the downhill while going that fast. Brakes on a road bike don't work all that well when trying to slow down for hard lefts.

One day my friends one day. Life is a bit busy these days and I also need a way to get my bike up to you guys - no ugly bike racks for my car.

On another note I rode around on my mountain bike with my gf yesterday an damn it feels super smooth now since I'm used to the road bike.

I toss my bike in my trunk.
The IS has fold down seats too right?
You should be good to go \:D

We ride every Sunday, so just holler when you're free!

^^ Jeff, you are in way better shape than me, don't chicken out. You will get better if you ride with people faster than you. As for bike racks, I don't think anyone else uses them other than me \:\)

No fold down seats in the IS it definitely won't fit in the trunk.

I'm not at all scared with riding with you guys, if I keep up cool, if I don't I'm ok with that too. Ill make it out but like I said I'm in the middle of house shopping and also have a ton going on (for example another wedding Saturday). I will show one day.

I use a Yakima hitch rack. Holds 4 road bikes or 3 mountain bikes nicely.
That said, I ride up to the Sunday meeting point so I don't have my car there.

FYI Shaun, if you're concerned about weaving to get through the pack... just started at the front. You base your position on what you think you'll do or your goals.
They have 5 different corrals.

damn, i gotta look into the corrals.
For a distance of 80km, I have no idea what my avg would be \:\(
All my solo races were duathlons, and the distances were only 30 or 40km. What was your avg at horse shoe?

I was my wife's domestique this year so it wouldn't apply. I functioned as her tow the entire time so I was at her place.

For Blue, i averaged 34.8km/h. I'm faster this year from training.
My buddy, who does triathlons and is 150lbs averaged 41km/h. This is for the 25 mile.

My goal is high 30s this year.

I could probably do 25km/h at Horseshoe. Maybe 26-27 if I push it (25k).
The winning avg was only 32 in the 25. The hills really break things up there

Shane, your seatpost is likely too high, or your stem length is wrong, which causes you to balance more of your weight on your hands. Even a couple of percent off balance will be a pain in the hands.

That said, a bike that fits will fix this. \:\)

I've stated I would rather go up a hill than into a headwind... going north uphill and into a headwind is stupid.
