I am going to do my little course in the east end until I hit 30 How long do you think i twill take if I am out there almost daily? I want to get to God level aka Euphoric level so I don't feel as embarassed when he smokes me pedalling backwards on a CCM unicycle with a flat tire taken out of the trash. There are other things to consider other than gunning for a specific pace. As you ride more, you're going to pick up on which muscle groups you utilize more efficiently, nuances in riding position and preferred cadence (and you may realize you want to target a specific cadence rather than a speed instead). Soooo it's hard to say. Lot of stuff going on. Even lame things like cleat position, saddle fore/aft and where you sit can make a substantial difference. The easiest way to get faster (apart from riding often) is riding with someone who's slightly faster than you. It forces you to keep pace, and you just wheel suck... it's almost like motor pacing (drafting a motorized vehicle). Get's your lungs and legs used to firing at a specific rate @ an increased velocity. As you get more accustomed to that feeling and being able to dish out that kind of output, you will be able to get faster on your own. So...that being said...weekly CSI rides, anyone?
I changed up my saddle position last night after my ride. I moved it a bit forward (as far as it can go) and i raised the seat about 3/4 of an inch. I feel my leg has too much of a bend while pedalling. Hopefully that proves to be beneficial, but like you posted before. *fit* is really just a matter of trial and error as long as you stick to the basics.
There is a solid youtube vid that's 2 mins and it covers 5-6 elements of fit.

Is it remotely possible to commit to a weekly CSI ride schedule? Like maybe a shorty (30km for now) ride on wednesday evenings?
I think some ppl are from the north end, others from the east end....so meet at pacific mall (lol it's the only thing i can think of that's random) and head east? Start at say, 7:30?

single speed and I need my own pedals. Id rather show up on a free garbage day tricycle. Bahahahaha! I am loving the elitism from a man who no longer has a bicycle I'm by no means standing up for my own retarded choice of riding 1 gear bikes...but really, what's the big deal? I now ride for fitness, and you aren't going to get a better challenge on a road bike than sticking with a single gear. And it is not *that slow* either...avg'd 36kph on the Toronto Island multisport race in 40 deg heat a few years back...on a tinyyyyyy gear. No need for carbon rocket ships when you got the legs, right? riiiiiiight? what is the purpose of a single speed? aside from less parts breaking, i'm learning actually quiet a bit from the thread boys.
It's a grown-up BMX bike. Forces you to re-think hills and is a fun training tool. Simplicity of the system is very nice.

Runtastic road bike, I use it together with Strava. Runtastic is just simpler and more user friendly though.

Going mountain biking tomorrow, the Trek Wednesday Night series at Hardwood Hills... so no road biking for me til Friday and then I'm back to work Will be working totally different muscle groups, should be good. Going up in the early afternoon and will ride for a few hours until the race at 7pm. I didn't plan on the heat so this could be a VERY retarded endeavour.
It's about time this thread got interesting. Lol road riding.

^^ Hahaha! I'm breaking the rules riding with with a MTB helmet (with visor). You must have mental issues... you want to start a bike ride at PACIFIC MALL!?????? You know I make it my policy not to work on my days off right?
LMAO!
Shrug. Hatorade, SiRace and I used to meet there and ride out to the zoo area. I fail to see the problem...???

Hardwood Hills has weekly races on Wednesdays sponsored by Trek between May 1 and the end of August. It's pretty awesome and they have different classes which go off on corresponding trails ranging from easy for kids (2.5km) to hard Olympic-level (15km). Prizes for the winners and fastest laps in each category. Points system since it's an 18 week series etc... We're heading out tomorrow in the afternoon and staying at a KOA til Thursday. p.s: I bought the 50mms
ZOMG I think I need to buy a MTB!!!!!!!!!!

its like your third day relax. itll come ..with time. and dont forget rest is just as important(if not more so important) than actually riding. dont blow your wad in the first week or two.
Rest from what? It's not like I feel anything in my muscles/etc.

Let's ride hwy 7 east from Markham Scenic route/nice roads/no fobs. I'm good with that! Load up on drugs and let's go!
Let's do it, pretty sure we can get SiRice/Hator/Canuck/355 si out here, it's pretty central for everyone no? Highway 7 east from ninth line and you can go all the way to Oshawa if you want to do a 100km round trip.
I am going to do my ride today again.

When? I cannot sat morning. Sun morning is a maybe. But I don't think Hatorade can do mornings. And given the heat, the earlier, the better!

I got raped today...very humbling experience.
Wasn't going to ride due to heat, but said fuck it and went. Half way through my ride I see another dude on a bike sitting at a red. I pulled up to him, but stayed a few meters behind (didn't want to chat - was in the middle a good Drake song ). I am checking this guy's shit out, it was an OOOOLD bike probably a 12 speed. Guy was 6'1 or so and maybe 150lbs very similar to your typical conditioned road cyclist. No shorts/jersey, just cargo shorts, helmet, and gloves. I am thinking to myself I am going to smoke this joker during the straight away half a km down
After 100m I was grasping at straws just to keep pace with this fuck, after a km I couldn't, dude just casually coasted away.
Can't seem to get out of the 27km/h range. I am assuming it's probably due to the elevation, on a flat I should be able to hold a 30??!?
