Ok so, since doing these longer rides without midway points which have water...I've been wanting to figure out a way to carry more than 1 bottle.
The bike doesn't have bottle bosses--so I was tempted to buy a behind the saddle bottle bracket. But I found one locally, and it was $100! Ain't nobody got time for that! I went home, found an old cage, and with some velcro straps and inspiration, I made my own! Booyeah! No more needing to steal Jason's spiked water!

You made me want carbon tubs now. However, I cannot make those out of spare parts on velco straps...

Kinda strange, I was pretty tired today after work when I went for a ride, did a decent warm up and with the wind against me I thought this ride was going to be a write off in terms of breaking any sound barriers. I took it easy for the first 10km, got to North Road and said "Fuck it" and kept riding all the way to brock.
So I did a longer ride than my usual, didn't try for the beginning and it netted me this:

Good ride man. That 5km hwy7 TT segment sounds fun. Would like to try it sometime

What route would you take if you were me?
I am thinking of riding to work for the next few months weather permitting. The total distance is 13-14km so 30 mins if not faster for me to get to work.
Should I take hwy 7 across to Leslie or 16th? I’ve done hwy 7 before to Warden and it was sketchy at times, but there are paved shoulders.
16th worries me because the lanes are narrower it seems, no shoulder and traffic is moving at a decent pace plus 90% Asians during rush hour isn’t a good thing.
The other option is raymerville/carloton/etc all smaller sidestreets to woodbine and then just go 16th to Leslie.
Thoughts?

I feel like a b!tch asking this especially watching 4age's strava lunch runs down yonge to bloor and back to 401 in traffic like it's no one's business.

Call me crazy - but what's wrong with hwy7? I used to ride hwy7 quite often to get to places (like ride meeting locations) and I had no issues with it. Yes, construction is there now...but if anything, that slows down traffic more. Easier to lane split and get around the beige toyotas
Vas, you have the luxury of experimenting. Why dont you try all 3 or how ever many routes and settle on whichever you like best?

Yea I am leaning towards 7 to be honest for the reasons above: paved shoulders in sections and heavy traffic, meaning safer for me. I don't think i can do the side streets, i did it once on the weekend and it's just a joke with stop signs, cars darting out, multiple stupid turns (not a direct path). 16th i am just scared to try, narrow lanes and the sewers are deep in sections so i'd have to take up more of the lane in certain spots.
I should probably wear all my hockey gear for these rides.
