Got my first ticket, speeding 129 in a 100 zone.

Can someone please recommend a good ticket fighter?

Is Redline still one of the top?

Thanks!

Just represent yourself, but otherwise I've heard nothing, but good things about Redline.

I believe 29 over would be a 3 pointer.

Today at 1pm
Hwy 404 s/b richmond hill
Speeding 129 in a posted 100 zone
Sect 128
Reduced

Was going down the hill south of 407
Cop at its usual spot right between 407 and 7
I was in the 3rd lane from the center (cop-hov-gap-lane 1-lane 2 (me))

Never been pulled over before until today

Lots of cars in front of me and to the left of me. I was surprised he saw me since there were so many cars and my car is quite low too.

No incident when pulled over. Just told me to be careful, do the trial option, and that he'll see me in court. His partner also told him to give me a ticket for no plate validation sticker on the plate permit but I explained that its a replacement permit and the clerk never gave me back the sticker so he said he'll cancel that in court.

I'll probably hire Redline unless there someone's better or cheaper and just as good.

First ticket? Go to court, talk to the crown, get it reduced, stop speeding.

Also they can't drum up any extra charges in court, they are full of shit.

Even if he goes to get it reduced is he really winning? Don't you have to go down first if you decide to fight it to book a court date, than go down at the court date to fight your ticket? For some people thus already missed time at work etc just to save a few bucks. It's a speeding ticket, not drunken driving

^^ You are forgetting, the punitive factor in the ticket is not the fine, its the insurance hike for 3 years. You NEVER pay the ticket, always fight it.

It's op first ticket, I highly doubt his insurance would go up, they may make a note of it but that's about it if he has a good driving record.

^ He also got a new car - so anything goes.

Forget ticket fighter - do it yourself. By the time you pay a ticket fighter (which they can't guarantee no points any more) and the reduced fine they will get you - it'll cost as much as (if not more) than if you lost in court and you have to pay the ticket in full.

The only caveat is since the ticket was reduced on the spot, the courts will have the right to bring back the full charge if you contest it.

I got my 43 km/h over ($300+ fine, 4 points) down to a disobey sign charge ($100, 2 points) - Redline, X-copper wanted $500 to do the work that I did myself.

And this too. If it was a more serious offence, then yes hire one of those guys. But imagine the cop doesn't even show up, now you've paid someone $500 for doing absolutely nothing.

To the insurance companies speeding is speeding be it 1 or 100 over they don't care and they don't look at demerit points. There not going to raise your rates unless they go into your file, unless you had and accident or claim they wont bother, its cost them money to do so. Fight it yourself, most of these ticket guys only get it reduced, something you can do yourself.

Well ... Here's the thing ... It's not a black/white answer, hence why people ask this all the time ...

I've used RedLine about 3-4 times (yes, I'm a tard), using their 'all-covered' option, or whatever it's called (1 fee, everything's covered.)

They always ask me why I bother fighting it, especially if I don't have other tickets/issues with my driving history ...

Fact is, you're paying $7-800 upfront, which spread out across 3 yrs, is about $250... Will your insurance increase by $250 the year following the accident, if you were found guilty? Depends on many factors ...

^ Why take the chance? Its very easy to have a few unlucky breaks in 3 years, and then suddenly your only option is facility insurance. If it was just the fines, who gives a rats ass, but considering Ontario is the highest auto insurance area in North America, why take the chance of getting screwed even more.

Ya for insurance, going over 49km/h over the speed limit is same thing as failing to provide proof of insurance or driver's license.

They are all considered as minor convictions.

forgot to mention - even though i got nailed for that 2 points (court date was Aug 2010) - we made a claim later on that year (100% other guy's fault - got into a minor rear-end accident) - our insurance didn't go up in those 2 years (thank goodness);

so i may've dodge the bullet this year when it comes off my record (insurance renewal at end of Aug) - we'll see...

Redline is great, i wouldn't use them for this petty shit.

If you are with TDMM this is considered a minor so it won't affect your insurance.

I'd go in myself and just hope cop doesn't show up. If he does just say it's your first ticket, you are sorry and won't do it again. They will lower the fine and charge and you will be on your way.

^lowering the fine/charge is meaningless. A moving violation is a violation and as others have already said it may affect insurance. Sure TDMM won't jack your rates on the first minor offence...what happens when the OP decides to be a tard and speed again on the next long weekend and gets caught again. TDMM will be more then happy to jack premiums at that point.

I am stating a simple cost vs. benefit.

While I've used redline and they've gotten me off some serious shit i doubt they will get him off this scott free. I think because he has a clean record he has a good chance of having the judge toss it as-is.

I am well aware a moving violation regardless if it's 5km/h over or 25km/h over is the same shit, but TDMM actually doesn't ding you up for up to 2 minors and it's also based on how often they pull your abstract. They do random samples of abstract audits (usually at risk drivers - not those with a clean record).

So in the end, what's the point of paying redline $500+ to fight something that will have the same outcome as if you went and did it yourself AND it won't affect your premiums now

It was in the S5. If I didn't back off due to a bad feeling, I would've been car-less for a few days.

I've been driving for 10 years and this is the first time being pulled over (for something stupid... speeding on a long weekend).

Instead of Redline, can someone suggest someone to represent me and plead bargain? I rather pay someone to go to Newmarket to file for a trial, request disclosure and then show-up for a trial. I know I can do this myself but its time vs money.

I went to court for a minor ticket(10 over lol). It was in hopes dude wouldnt show up. He was there. he was ocd terminator with all his shit ridiculously organized. I even asked before hand just to see his ticket(Because i forgot to file for disclosure in time ) anyways. he let me check it out and this guy ran a tight ship. I even asked him to clarify with me where he nailed me at(distance). I had gone on previous days to take measurements since it was a bit of a weird downhill/turn section(also used google maps to verify, took photos). I had in my mind the distance window he had to have..and sure enough his value was bang on in the window(Also had the calibration time on it etc) No way I could really beat it, plus it was already reduced a tad(from 13 over or something). I just ended up pleaing guilty.
I had shit prepared but I wouldve gone down for sure. Hopefully insurance doesnt check(though I have to call to put e36 back on road so that means they will probably run it then , albeit it is a minor)

fuck this place is such a scam/shithole. we shouldnt need to be pussy footing around for minor infractions.
ok multiple heavy speeding tickets/infractions you should be worried. but this minor shit (even a few) is such bullshit to need to have to worry. a bit of badluck could have you with a few 10 overs easily, then youre fucked. It doesnt mean you are unsafe or a bad driver.

If its already been reduced and dude said see you in court...If you have time..book the date in hopes he doesnt show. They WILL amend the charge back up to whatever he got you at if you go through with a trial, and unless you have a solid defence youll get pwned.

I wouldnt bother with ticket fighter, lawyer shit unless its REALLY needed. If you dont have the time. Just pay it(cheapest option likely if you have a clean record, because chances are dude will show up).

Really you could lag it out and make them work a bit for their money(which was partially my thinking)... OR you could just pay it and start that 3 yr ticker sooner. After waiting etc if you end up paying it, itll just be 1 more yr you have to wait before it comes off(that extra yr waiting for trial is obviously normal but you could just get the process rolling sooner). its up to you.

York region is pretty quick.

I got nailed Mar. 2010 - court date was Aug. 2010

Got nailed again in January 2013 (rolling stop, but they charged me w/ no paper work), had to go to Newmarket to file my option (first attendance) - that was in March.

At least the courthouse is close to my house. lol

this is true but they had extended it past a yr last I had checked...THEN a court ruled 1 yr was sufficient for 11b but they are getting wise to everyone doing this so ymmv. I had looked into it for myself but again I was too late to file my shit so I was sol.

mine for was for toronto so I was past a yr for my court date.
