Whining post.

So the last year, I've been happy with my overall shape, but I haven't made any significant progress in the last 6 months or so (at anything) and I'm just tired. Now, I've been quite tired for a while, but once I found out I had hypothyroidism, I was hoping the treatment would invoke a change for the better.

Also, I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep/night, which seems to be more than most people and that just doesn't seem like enough. I take a day off, and I feel no better with the rest. Exercise never seems to get easier, even casual runs.

Been on synthroid for 5 months now because of low thyroid activity and I feel no fucking different. All the doctors ask me "How are you feeling" with a smile expecting me to tell them how much more energy I have etc. NONE of the supposed benefits have hit. No weight loss, not sleeping better, not losing weight, weight gain is as easy as ever for me. I get down to 193 and feel lean. Have some beer and pizza one night on the weekend, gain 3-4 pounds and it seems to take 2+ weeks to lose it. I don't gorge either, just eat a bit more than usual.

I'm as tired as ever, I haven't dropped a fucking pound since taking the drugs even though blood tests shows it's making a difference (though not quite at ideal levels yet). I'm not getting any stronger even though my diet is essentially the same and protein intake is solid (160-180 grams).

The minute I have a bad meal or more than a couple drinks, I seem to gain a couple pounds and it takes me a week to drop it and I don't gorge at all. I workout pretty much every day of the week.

Then I come here and see guys eating 2500-3500 calories and really not gaining much weight at all. I'm afraid to up anything in my diet for fear of gaining too much fat.

It seems like I'm stuck in some perpetual cycle. Up calories, gain weight too quickly. Cut calories, lose strength quickly. Skip cardio, weight goes on.

Finicky ass body.

Maybe need anew training protocol if you're seeing no gains in progression...

If your dick still works it's likely not low -T...

Of course that's the new "thing" it seems...

Have you tried not working out every day? It takes its toll over time.

Weights are three times a week and cardio is 5-6 times per week. I'll take a day off here and there.

No low-T, it's low thyroid levels (hypothyroidism or high TSH). Been doing the 5-3-1 for a while, what should I try next?

Intermediate 5x5? I like the Texas Method, but there is a ton of squatting work.

I might just spend the next while moving, digging, hauling dirt for a workout.

I just wonder why the fuck I seem to sensitive to weight gain and often so beat.

Have you had your blood levels tested while on the meds? I mean, something beyond "How do you feel?"

Meds seem to be messing with you...

Are you getting enough good food...?

Maybe try a new workout regiment? Take a break, go to yoga...confuse your body.

I'm a weekend drinker (maybe 1-2 drinks during a weekday 2 out of the 5 days). I don't binge like I used too, though I'll drink a decent bit.

I've seen several doctors on this (just walk ins at the local clinic) along with a cardiologist. I've had about 10 blood tests in the last 6 months.

My TSH levels were around 9-10 initially. After about 4 months on 50mg of synthroid, they were 4.5. Normal is 0.5-4.0. I'm not sure if it's a linear correlation, but the numbers have moved a bunch and my dosage was upped recently to 75mg. I've been on the upped dosage for about a month now and no noticeable difference. I'll get tested again in a month. Most people I've been told take 100mg for a dose.

I think I get enough food. I hardly starve. I find if I even eat a touch more than usual, I see it on the scale. It's very frustrating spending a week trying to work off a weekend. I honestly have at most, 1-2 "bad" meals in a week. And those are not pig out meals. It's more like I make a homeade pizza and eat it (like an 800 calorie type meal).

I made a post over X-mas where I had one big meal (I still didn't gorge), drank all day and had some candy/desert and I gained about 4 pounds from that one day. I exercised before and after and it seemed to take about 2-3 weeks to get back to normal.

Well, I wouldn't get overly discouraged until you get the meds dialed in. Once you get back to a level that's normal for YOU, if you're still having problems, THEN look into it.
