Our daughter has out grown her infanct rear facing seat, rated at 30/30. She is still tiny, only 20lbs but 32 inches long.
I dont want to put her in a front facing seat yet, and i dont want to have to buy 3 seats before she goes into a booster seat.

I saw this (wish they had this a year ago!)
http://www.safetysuperstore.com/product/20505/primo_viaggio_sip_5_65/?category=28
which looks like it will do until she needs a booster seat no?

What are you guys using?

I have the Diono Radian RXT and R100 for my 3 kids. They are metal framed, slim and can go to a booster. Also fit well rear facing for my vehicle (had an Eddie Bauer for my first kid that wouldn't fit rear facing in the same car)

http://ca.diono.com/car-seats/radian-rxt

My biggest word of advice is to buy from a Toys-r-us or a Sears. They won't screw you on a full refund if it doesn't fit well in your car. Test first before you buy as well.

We're in the same boat. My son has out grown his infant seat and we need to go to the next step.

Most seats at the next level can be used for both rear and front facing. Keep her in the rear facing position as long as you want/can and then just turn it around and install it so its front facing.

i got this one, my daughter is a small kid but when she started getting too long for the car seat this graco one was the only decent brand that had the lowest weight rating.

took this pic at a red light, there were 3 sikh guys crossing the street then she did this

one of those things that is hilarous but had to tell her it's wrong..lol

But really a Diono RXT would be nice for extended rear facing then a Britax Marathon etc

sales happen quite often, just have to wait for them... Britax just had their sale recently although it wasn't that great. As mentioned in Big Tasty's thread, I got my Diono R100's at sears for stupid cheap, but amazon.ca is pretty good as well

Will any of these fit in a 3 series? The infant seat right now barely fits and it's one of the smallest already lol.

The Radians are awesome cause they aren't as wide as many other seats. They allow you to rear face the kid for a long time (our son was 3 when I switched him), but the main drawback is that when you are rear facing, he front seat is pretty much useless cause the Radian is very tall.

I'm probably gonna get another Radian for our 2nd son when he's it of the infant carrier.

So its no good if the front seat becomes useless lol

Diono has a foam padding for the Radians that allows the car seat to sit more vertical and therefor gives you more room to stretch out in the front. It goes for $12.

We have the Britax Marathon. At the time it has one of the highest weight ratings. (Though for my kid, being a toothpick and all, it'd take her a long time to outgrow it lol).

For the most part, weight ratings don't mean all that much. Children will outgrow the height limits before the weight limits.

These were the ones we were looking at about 1.5 years ago.

Britax
Marathon - $300
Boulevard - $340
Advocate - $400

I think the Marathon didn't have side impact protection or something like that. We went with the Boulevard. I think the more expensive it was, the more side protection it had and thus the wider it was.

Ya, get and infant carrier first and foremost. Easier to carry in and out especially when they are sleeping. From there move to the seats we're talking about above.

We got the Baby Trend Flex Loc as our infant carrier. I liked it cause it was smaller (lighter) than most and had a harness adjustment that would raise the back (and straps) as the child grew. Saved you from rethreading the straps each month as they got bigger.

Funny I'm just looking at them online and I realize how much of a light weight my twins are. The bigger of the two just hit 22lbs @ 19 months, hell I could still have her in an infant seat base on weight

In general, Britax and Radian are the most common if you're looking at mid-range car seats. The Britax ones are easier to install, but they tend to be a little wider. The Radian seats are narrower and are built like a tank. You can't go wrong either way.

WTF, we just took our twins for their 1 year immunizations and the bigger one is over 23 lbs, and the smaller is almost 20 lbs. Do your girls have a significant weight gap?

i ended up with this one today
http://www.snugglebugz.ca/foonf.html

fit the best in my wifes car. Despite looking huge it acutally allowed the front seat to go the furthest back.
some of the other ones made the front passengar seat useless

Nice grab though, your kid will love it & matches the truck theme, but most important it's really safe

actually only $10-$20 more than the others recommened here. And i got a $30 gift card, so not bad.
My wife has a suzuki Sx4 and when the others where setup for rear facing the front passenger seat was useless
