I could have done a lot more on my lifts but in the competition (1000lb club, max bench, dead lift and squat=1000lb or more) it was important to get your baseline lifts in then try and move up. I didn't really prepare enough for the competition. I never looked at any of my maxes prior and only based my lifts on what I could do at the end of my work outs.
Hell yeah man, that's smart. I have never maxed squats before since my low back discs are sketchy, and I never wanted to risk injury.

It has been several years since I did that. I could probably still bench and squat those numbers, but deadlift is unlikely to say the least heh

Why haven't you started on 1600 now? Why wait?
Too drastic a change, I'm already dropping almost a pound a day where I'm at now, I'm also trying to put on lean mass while dropping the weight so that will most likely hurt me in that respect. I do a lot of heavy lifting and not in the way you or art would do it. Lots of people that do the paleo thing and cut low on food end up starving themselves and run out of gas a lot faster.

Yup...weight loss=free speed.
While true, I am not running that 10k for speed nor time, just to be supportive lol. Don't expect ANYTHING mind blowing out of me for that. btw down another 2 lbs finally broke the 200lb barrier, excited to see what I'll end up at by the end of the week.

Here are my "results" so far...
June 2009 - 140lb. 2 months into weightlifting.
January 2010 - 143lb. CrossFit for 4 months.
January 2011 - 145lb. CrossFit for 16 months.
January 2012 - 153lb. CrossFit for 28 months. The weight is starting to come on. Would like to hit around 165lb and then cut the fat.

lighting was better in the before shots (i moved) and yeah that goes with the weight gain. based on measurements my mass gains are about 65/35 muscle/fat.
stomach is also full of five guys in last pic

i'm 5'8". my neck is currently 17.5". i'll have to get dress shirts custom made.
as a white guy, strength and looks do not always go together. I have gained about 20% on all lifts (more on cleans due to technique) since I started. that excludes the 20% gains that were made in the first 2 months, before it became difficult. so overall maybe 30-40% gains since I quit with the light weight cardio stuff.
