Do you have a state income tax? is so whats the rate?

Also is there a apartment shortage?
I love the price of the houses so I am considering a move but would prob need to live in a apartment till I find a area I like.

Currently looking at raleigh area, and pope afb area "job openings in my field"

thanks for the help

There is a state income tax rate. You can find the rates here:

http://www.taxadmin.org/FTA/rate/ind_inc.html

In terms of apartments, both Fayetteville (Pope AFB) and the Raleigh area have NO shortage of housing.

If you do end up moving to the Fayetteville area stay away from the city limits! Hope Mills and Spring Lake are nice places to live and in close proximity to Pope.

Fayetteville = Ghetto

Raleigh and the surrounding areas on the other hand are very nice but expensive.

Some parts of Fayetteville are pretty bad, but I used to live out in Eastover, and it's pretty nice out there.

Yep, Bragg Blvd. and Murchison Rd. pretty much sums up Fayetteville

But it's what you make of it. I had a blast the 4+ years I was stationed there.

Always some pretty good races there. I'm not sure how it is now but when I was there there was a pretty good turnout of imports.

One thing you didn't really mention is where you would like to live... in city limits? Suburbs? Country?

I wouldn't want to live near Fayetteville. I used to live in Goldsboro. I bought a house in Clayton recently.

I think Raleigh, Greensboro, or Charlotte area if you had to be close to big cities. Anything else, would need to get what you liked before I could suggest something.

There are apt's & houses galore up here. I had a very healthy choice when I was buying.

Good Luck on your decisions.

No housing shortage in Raleigh, If you want quick access to a lot of stuff, but don't want to live right in the heart of the city, check out Wake Forest!
