so why not just keep the car you have for a while?

good info jsmonet! thanks.

Got anymore stuff, just throw it up. The car has 43k miles so Im guessing(hoping) the turbo will be in a good shape for a while.

as for the oil pickup....just dont want to get the car and lose the motor

aftermarket pickup yet?

It's slow and boring. Having a fun car is the only thing that will keep me from falling into depression. There is literally nothing else I want.

I wouldn't see why you would keep the wagon over an STi. Get what you want and enjoy it.

sti's are definitely goofy fun.

i'll say it again: it's rewarding to drive if you drive it like a sadist. hair pulling, ass slapping, ring gagged, leave-her-covered-in-someone-else's-sweat, good old fashioned sadism. if you drive it with finesse you'll never get anywhere quickly. the car was made to be driven rowdy

How are the 08's responding to mods, tuning etc?

I know the 07's had some horrid factory tuning and had some issues with popped motors with just cat/turbobacks as mods.

I think many cars get over hyped. I knew the STi was a great ride and had a lot of hype, but I tried to put it all out of my mind before I drove it, so I could get a true feeling for myself as to how it is...

I try that with most cars. as soon as you are expecting some monster in a straight line I find you are typically let down...where if you just go in ignoring all that you get a better feeling as to how it is.

I do want an STi now though

a real big reason is the awd for winter usage. Though my car is capable and never been stuck in some very serious conditions im tired of the lack of pull from a stop lol spin. it can move obviously but to a certain point then youll just spin. rwd will be the same way...after driving my bros talon(and my rents various 4x4 cars) over the years, it makes me really want it for winter use just for the more ease of pulling away from traffic lights/stops

AWD is pretty much a must for me now. It's hard to go back. When it snows, it's way more fun, it's safer and it's easier to negotiate traffic (left turns, merging etc).

It's also nice to be able to mat the gas and not worry about traction.

its the mat the gas part thats been really pissing me off lately about my car(in the winter)

cause I have plenty of fun with it, its just different than throttle oversteering ;\) lol

but ya, awd is a lot of fun in the snow especially with good winters. come up to a corner...give a little flick, mash the gas fly through the turn and accelerate hard like you are in the dry

flicking works really well with the fwd actually. to the point of not even needing to touch the ebrake. its much more fluid/smooth turn(and higher speed too)

same horrific tuning, holding more power to redline using less boost though (VF48), avcs ftw!

How is the 08 responding to OTS tunes (i.e. accessports)?

Just curious since the 08 don't seem to be any quicker than the 07's in stock form - I'd like to know if they are more potent wtih bolt ons.

they are all the same, seen one do 13.0@104 stock recently, i could bench race and tell you i think 07-08s are faster due to gearing out of the box but it's too early to tell to be honest.

07s-08s are more potent with bolt ons for sure, 06 compression block, better avcs heads, NORMAL gearing. Stage 2 cars do 12.4@110 while stage 2 04 will do 12.7@107 due to the clustercrap of a transmission gear ratio.

With the perfect tune TONS of guys are well in to the 800ish whp range on stock bottom ends and it still maintains that stock honda reliability!!!!
