I've done a bit of searching, I know that the harness from the USDM engine will need to be used, along with the injectors and alternator. I heard that I would need to use the mounts and axles from the B16, is that right?

What about the ECU? Is there a sub harness that needs to be purchased to be able to use the JDM ITR ECU or will it just plug in?

You need to use your stock engine wire harness on the new motor, the integra harness is different. There is no need to change the injectors or the alternator You should get a wire harness on the B18C and that will have all the plugs you need to convert your wire harness. Integra axles are fine, but you will need motor mounts from a 99-00 Si.

There may or may not be a sub harness needed, it depends on what year ECU you get.

Where are you ordering the motor from? Tell them what year car you have and they should be able to get you the right ECU.

The swap is not for myself, but I will be performing it and have never done a B series swap, just K series swaps. So i'm doing the research now to make sure it all goes over smoothly. Thanks for the information, i'll pass on the information so that he can get all the stuff ordered correctly.

hi i am currently doing the same conversion in the civic Si.,... so i will require the stock b16a2's engine harness for the coversion? I though i could utlise the B18c5 one?

and the ECU part.. u can use you ECU provided that that they are both are the same generation OBD1 or OBD2... just a little note.. the later b18c7 type r motors come with on board immboliser which requires a genuine key..(can be removed though)

I am also wondering if i need an alternator upgrade ?

I am planning to use my b16a2 axels.. Do they fit?

cause u cant use b18c axels as the hub side is bigger in an ITR

1 last question :
Woudl the STD fuel pump and Radiator in a civic si hold up for a b18c5/7

You need to use the Civic harness. The Civic harness goes through the firewall to the ECU, the integra stuff plugs in at the shock towers in an integra. You can use an integra harness in 92-95 civics, but not 96+.

There is no OBD 1 TypeR ECU, there is OBD2a and OBD2b. some of the OBD2b stuff used the immobilizer, but not all of them, I want to say it was only the 2001 ECU's. You can also get away with running the p2t ecu (99-00 Civic Si).

No.

Yes.

True. You can do an ITR 5-lug conversion and use the axles or use GSR axles with your original hubs.

No problem, I try to answer everything as straight forward as possible to avoid confusion. If you've got other questions or need more specifics, post them up and I'll let you know if I've got an answer

Hey not to thread jack but Im swapping a 2000 USDM GSR motor into my 2000 si, the harness in my car already is fully compatable? I know you've said yet before but wasnt sure about obd2 motors and USDM motors, just want reassurance

The harness in your car is mostly compatible. Use the 00 Si harness on the GSR motor, you'll need to add wires for the IAB and may need to extend the wires to reach the sensors. Either keep your existing IAT sensor in the intake tube or extend those wires to reach the GSR IAT on the intake manifold. Everything else should be good when you put the GSR P72 ECU in the car.

Alright good, the IAT sensor is actually already extended because It was on a charge pipe in my turbo set-up. This motor will be boosted, and I already have a p28 ECU chipped with uberdata for the time being, will have the basemap for a GSR be okay or will it not work because it has the civics wiring harness in it?

You'll be good to go. Since the P28 doesnt listen for knock or control the IAB, the wiring will be exactly the same as your last motor.

Don't forget to mention what a dog the car will be at low / midrange RPM with an open plenium manifold...

sorry to be apain! lol, but im a little confused here... ok, heres my situation, i have a 99 civic si, and we are gonna swap the jdm b18c1 into it. What exactly will i have to do with the ecu situation(besides the iab wiring, etc)will it physically plug in?. i didnt buy the motor yet, but im just doing research b4 i do this spring.... Will i need any kind of conversion harnesses? what will i need for a 95 motor/ecu, and a 97 motor/ecu. thanks

For the OBD 1 stuff (94-95), you'll need a conversion harness from OBD2(B) -> OBD1. You'll also want to reuse your 00 Si engine harness and swap the fuel injectors from the B16 into the B18 (The injectors are the same size but the plug style is different. If you use the '95 B18 injectors, you'll need to change the plugs on the wire harness). You will also have an unused plug on the wire harness near the timing belt cover. The OBD 1 motors did not have that sensor (CKF), but the 96+ motors did, hence the extra plug.

For the OBD 2(A) stuff (96-98) you'll need a conversion harness from OBD2(B) -> OBD2(A) or get a 99-01 ECU and it will plug directly in.

If you go with a 99-01 motor, everything will fit as is, you will just need to run the IAB wires.

What exhaust system does it have? The B16 Header will not go down enough to clear the bottom of the oil pan. If it comes with a header, it is larger than the Si's so you might have to convert something.

I did it the cheap way. On my B16, I had a DC SS header, random tech CAT and a DC TCS exhaust. When I swpped out the engine, I had to ditch the SS header, and I had the CAT stretched/reamed whatever to allow a bigger input. It was risky being a SS CAT because it could break. I went to the Acura dealer and bought a new gasket for the header/CAT connection. I believe it was from an Acura Legend.

I reused my Mounts, shift linkage and wiring harness. I think I had to use one connectors off of the old JDM harness that went to 1 of the injectors. I can't remember why.

I bought an ECU Harness to match-up my JDM ECU(P73) with the Wiring-Harness in the car.

Make sure you change out at least the timing belt, thermostat and water pump while it is out of the car. Could save a lot of hassle in the near future.
