Chances are I'm moving to Winnipeg in September for some schoolin' at the University of Manitoba.

Any idea on what I should expect? Good neighbourhoods to live in?

I'll probably be making a trip down in July to try to find a place to stay.

Its smaller then what you're probably used to. Although we're not exactly rednecks either. If you like cars, every Sunday night (during the summer) there is a huge cruise down our longest stretch of road downtown (Portage Avenue).

Weather here is fucking cold during the winter (-40 to -50 with windchiil) and pretty hot during the summer (+30, more with humidex).

Areas to avoid: North End, Main Street, Higgins,
Nice places: Eastern part of the city, as well as the Southern part of the city (I've lived on both sides). You'll notice cost of living here is much cheaper than Ontario as well.

Thats about all I can say.. any questions just PM me.

why not apply to Lakehead in Thunder Bay? Warmer, less crowded, and closer to your home.

They don't have a law school. Sounds like a nice place though.

Areas to avoid: All of the north end, every bit of it its all bad. Same with west end downtown, actually all of downtown is bad. The east end of the city is good ? wtf are you smoking TRASHcona is a terrible terrible place. Parts of the south end are bad too.

Nice places: West part of the city is nice. I mean far west though Past St james. Into The Crestveiw Area. but that pretty far from U of M. The southwest part of the city is the nicest, and relativly close to UofM. The are around the university is nice. Winnpeg isnt really that bad of a city. Alot to do if you have money to play. I find the people are pretty nice here too.

the tyndall park area isn't too bad, but the cleanest area are definitely the south end lindenwoods/whiteridge. portage isn't horrible, as long as your not walking alone at night on it, just take a drive around there's lots of places to go, just avoid the places you aren't comfortable in. its a good city imo, doesn't get too crazy here.

Hi there, I have lived in Tbay my entire life and graduated from LU two years ago. Yes it is a nice little town, and LU is a great school.

I am also attending Law School at U of M in this fall, and have been scoping out a few apartments via the internet on Pembina Hwy, and few others about 1 km from the University. Is this area generally ok?

Thanks

St. James is shithole as well... your best bet in the city would be Tuxedo/Whiteridge/Linden Woods/Island Lakes, but pricey.

it still shows up as pink for you?
cool

most of that stufff was reversed and those 'priviliges' were taken away from mods when the board was upgraded. we had them for a while then too many people in OT ended up with custom tags and coloured names.
