I intend to blend/mix Astra with whatever 'other' one I can get .. Moderna or Pfizer, when the opportunity arrives.
likewise.
i’m going for the cocktail.

I guess you develop a hard shell on the outside.
But aside from that, having a solid network of friends and family (and a good partner) help immensely. Very little phases me at this point (I don't think that's a good thing. Just means I'm probably psychologically fucked.)
Adult deaths aren't too tough... kids are always a little different but even then, the last bad kid call I did was for a 14 year old in cardiac arrest and we continued on with our day. That same day, we ended up doing 4 cardiac arrests (which is a personal record for us.)
The last time I was emotionally affected by a bad call was 6 years ago when I did a cardiac arrest for a 28 day old on a night shift. A couple of tears fell from the eyes when I walked out of the EMRG but when I got home after shift I actually cried (I had a 3 year old at home and when he ran out to see me in the morning to hug me, I just sorta lost it.) Since then, the shell of armour has just gotten thicker.
Most of the job you just find a lot of humour in... sometimes (often) it's really dark and inappropriate. Very racist, bigoted, sexist, and everything that the left hates. But it lives between me and my partner in the ambulance and I think that's a large coping mechanism too. And it's not that we actually believe what we're saying, but it gets you through the 12 to 16 hour shifts.

Finding less covid calls over the past month or so... not even one a day on the average.
That said, had a couple this week with one of them dropping dead after calling for shortness of breath. He was 34 years old and diagnosed covid positive. We did that entire cardiac arrest in the courtyard of a townhouse complex with people and their kids looking on (people really need to pull their kids back from that. it's not something for them to see.) IVs, drugs, tubes in throats, chest compressions...
We never got him back and he ended up dying. Sad story. I can't even imagine what to feel. How do you cope w/ the loss of life on the job?
he copes with it by farting on my desk

I will be declining if they try to mix mine. haven't booked my second appointment yet though, so hopefully I won't get my time wasted. they should really just say ahead of time instead of trying to trick people into mixing that don't want to mix. such a waste of peoples time and the spot could be used for someone that does want to mix instead of going to waste.

I am going to be AZ+M tomorrow. Going to be wearing a mask regardless since the 3 yr old and 3 month old can't take anything. We will be pretty much outdoors people in the summer and playing it by ear in the fall.

It's still advised not to mix UNLESS the only thing available is a different one. Because they want herd immunity as fast as possible.they basically saying take anything you can get for the sake of the whole. I can wait for supply to come back. Not a big deal to me. Everyone is in some mad rush because they wanna go eat at restaurants smh

Aren't you the one that hasn't been out for over a year? I mean ...In that scenario, whyzit matter tho.
There's validity re: 'not mixing', and not because of brand awareness....
Apparently international community doesn't recognize it, so travel might be an issue to the snob countries
US Food and Drug Adminstration: https://www.fda.gov/emergency-preparedne...asked-questionsQ: Are the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine interchangeable? A: No. There are no data available on the interchangeability of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine with other COVID-19 vaccines, including Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine. Individuals who have received one dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine should receive a second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to complete the vaccination series. Individuals who have received one dose of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine should receive a second dose of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to complete the vaccination series.

It matters to me cause it's going into my body. Im not even 100% on these vaccines in general but when you talk about vaccine vs. no vaccine it's better to take the vaccine than getting covid. But to mix and match just cause you can't wait a week or 2. No thanks.

"Experts say second shot of Moderna is 'as good as' Pfizer when mixing with AZ"https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronaviru...th-az-1.5471400"In clinical trials, Moderna showed 94.1 per cent efficacy in preventing COVID-19 two weeks after a second dose, comparable to Pfizer's 95 per cent. Both trials saw zero hospitalizations and deaths in those who did get COVID-19 after being vaccinated." Though, that's likely with Moderna + Moderna vs Pfizer + Pfizer, and not my scenario of AZ + ___ ... https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronaviru...ccine-1.5445347Moderna for me next week. Delta variant is here....not going to wait.
My only concern is whether other countries will accept mixing as "proper" full vaccination. Given government and science rarely aligns; I'm just thinking of the long game when it's ok to travel - and we find out our vaccine cards are invalid (by other countries we want to visit) because we mixed; but then we don't have any means of re-doing a "proper" full vaccination again (cuz by then only boosters will be offered).
