my tri-buddy just got untouchably fast on the bike

monte visto rio /vineman olympic bike course

[yes he's on a tri bike/new cervelo and aero wheels]

he just nuetralized my swim leg advantage

he also PR'd the run [came in only 30s over my last olympic 10k split]

I get to race him in an olympic in 4 weeks. Told him to make sure to wave on his way by on the bike ofc lol

says it was 466' total elevation so it was mostly flat. Even on my best day I ain't holding 22 \:\|

Good for him....but that ain't that fast. Solid middle of the pack bike leg at any decent sized Tri.

Don't get me wrong, that's a great ride, it's just not that amazing. I mean...I've had similar bike splits and I was never at risk of winning my AG. \:D

I doubt you're that far off of a ride like that either.

What were his splits/overall results?

Re: my tri-buddy just got untouchably fast on the bike

He's about 12 months into tris [same as me] I probably should have clarified that "untouchably fast" wasn't meant in an absolute sense--rather simply to me. I figured that would have been assumed but I guess not.

32:xx swim [he almost never swims]
4:20 T1
1:07.xx bike
2:10 T2
51:57 run (he never runs pretty much, maybe 10 miles/week on a big week)
2:39:xx

I'm around 7:xx faster on the swim and 7:xx slower on the bike and I was baarely faster on the run (:~40s) last time. He smokes me in transitions \:D

so he's a good biking/run buddy for me. I've helped him push his pace a bit on the run and he helps me push it a bit on the bike--I've seriously lowered his 3-5 mile run pace by 1-2 mins/mile just by reminding him that he's basically the same speed as me and to suck it up \:D

I did a ~15 mile TT with him a couple weeks back and got SMOOOKED lol [pretty much the same delta as here, 22.xx vs 20.xx mph]
