Cutting diet I did last year. 30 lbs in 7 weeks. If there was any muscle loss, it was too insignificant to notice and didn't affect strength levels.

IIRC, you seemed pretty drained on a lot of the workouts. Is that an issue?

You were also very partial with the exact type of carb, does it matter than much?

It's not an issue, other than it's hard. But I can't argue with the end result.

Yes, types of carbs matter greatly. Rice, potatoes, bread, and glucose candies is pretty much it.

Avg: 1674 cals, 193P, 29F, 152C

Expected calories burned just from average food deficit: 2272 cals (not even 1 lbs of fat loss)

Estimated calories burned through exercise: 7571 cals

Expected calories burned from food + exercise: 10343 cals

Expected fat loss: 2.95 lbs

Starting weight: 199.9 lbs

It sounds more complicated than it is. Avoid fat, eat only protein and green veggies 5 days a week, eat bread on the weekend.

Small amounts of potatoes and rice is okay, but you can't have too much sugar or fiber, as they interfere with the carb load.

2 lbs chicken breast, grilled usually
2 scoops protein powder shake
Some kind of salad of leafy greens (no carrots) and a couple of tablespoons of Walden Farms calorie free dressing

That's what I eat on non carb days

Carb days is fat free pretzels, bagels with fat free cream cheese, after dinner mints, pasta.

Hmmm, nice.

What is the theory on low fat. I personally have been consuming a good amount of fat daily (still low carbs). I feel like without it my body doesn't want to recover and I dont have the energy because of little carbs...

thoughts?

Re: Back on UD 2.0

Fat is just easily stored as fat in a caloric deficit. There's a theory about metabolic efficiency that says the more times you cut on the same system, the more efficient your body becomes at doing so. So, if you're constantly cutting weight with a keto diet or low carb diet, your body becomes more efficient at using the fat you give it. Of course, there's a lower limit to your energy burning, but the less amount of fat you give it to begin with, the less likely it is to be deposited as fat.

It's also so that protein is mainly used for energy when it isn't being used for substrate production. Protein almost never turns to fat, ever, even in a EDIT: surplus. So, combing that with no carbs gives you super super quick fat burning.

Of course, there are downsides, like not enough dietary fat to sustain hormone production and regulation, which is why you are not supposed to stay on the diet for more than 6-8 weeks without a break.

As for no energy, well, you get used to it.

Interesting.

so you are consuming a fuck ton of protein i'm guessing.

sugar?

Coffee?

How the fuck do you stay awake?

Re: Back on UD 2.0

Sugar is carbs, so no.

1.5g of protein per lbs of LBM

Yes, coffee, but no sugar.

Stay awake by getting plenty of sleep. I have no problems whatsoever with energy.

Re: Back on UD 2.0

Cooking without fat. Grilled stuff, mostly. You don't have to oil that. I put another recipe up in a different thread with shredded chicken. You can bake a lot of fish without having to use oil. Cocktail shrimp is another good one. Lean deli meats.

I don't eat breakfast, but if I did, bacon and eggs are out of the question.

THis diet isn't for the faint of heart. But it's lightning quick and you can still gain muscle on it, as long as you follow the workouts and diet exactly.

You can cook a lot stuff dry with the right pan and if it starts sticking too bad, you can always deglaze with water and turn it into a curry or something else.
