still alive...

I have not posted on here in forever it seems...
For the last few or 6 months, I can't get the forum to work on my home computer. I tried everything, cookies, cache, reset browser, re-install, safari, firefox, explorer... nothing.
Here's what I see:

I'm posting from work right now.

as for the hatch... still a work in progress!
as of last summer:

It's been on jackstands for about 8 months now... wife and house keep me busy, plus I don't have room to keep it at the new house.

the stang is out though

OH is a ghost town \:o

Re: still alive...

So I had the car tuned
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWoY-OS49cQ
I went to TI Dyno in ashtabula, OH. The owner Kevin and his hondata tuner Steve know their shit.
We didn't finish because of one thing after another... (wg arm adjusting, ended up removing the air filter, lost a coupler, double checked timing...)
the culprit ended up being the plugs. We re-gapped them and the car went from making a couple lbs of boost to instantly going up to 10 on the next run. But it was still losing power between 4k and 5k, they thought the problem is still the plugs. You can hear the turbo spool up and then stop and start to die off.

So I got heat range 8 NGK's and that took care of it. Kept blowing off the transition coupler on the turbo - it couldn't do that before. Put a new transition on yesterday and took it out for a test and nothing blew off.
Now it spools and wants to keep going, but fuel cutoff is 4700 rpm until I get the rest of the tuning done.

The turbo burned a little oil at high rpm before. Going around the block, after I let off the throttle one time I noticed a nice cloud of smoke behind the car. I limped it home & let it idle for a couple min burning oil and popped the hood. Engine was smooth & idle was fine but wanted to do a compression test just in case. 1, 2, and 3 were 160 and then the adapter from the tester came apart while threaded in cyl 3. It's still stuck, going to go back when the engine is cool and see if it comes out easier. I'm thinking it is the turbo in need of new seals... it's always been a bit of a smoker and will have a drip coming out from the bottom of the hot side sometimes.
I was soooo close to having it done too... this car is really testing me lol. I guess I should get used to owning a boosted civic?

Re: still alive...

Glad to hear the new spark plugs fixed it. Let me know when you're going again and I'll try to make it out.

Re: still alive...

took another sip of the potion and hit the 3 wheel motion

Car is running good, still needs high cam tuned. fuel cutoff is 5200 RPM until I get it tuned. It already scares me a little

Mark's alive too! Get your Si finished yet?

btw, I can finally view csi from home again... a few weeks ago the internet quit working (verizon dsl) and they had to come out and do something with the main line on the road. Csi worked like normal the next day... who knows why!

Re: still alive...

I remember you had the 4 runner at a C-bus meet one year and I wanted one ever since. A nice one of that era is a needle in a haystack now.

Re: still alive...

Well I never found a nice 4runner, so I got this... sort of an early xmas gift to myself \:\)

I have been looking for a 4x4 toyota truck or early 4runner for a while and found this on ebay - the guy lived 2 miles from my house!

It's an 85 (last year of solid front axle) with the 22r engine. It's not the fuel injected 22re but other than that this is the perfect truck. Frame looks great and no bed rust. A little bit of surface rust in a couple of areas on the cab & fenders.
It's got 4" pro comp lift, 2" body lift, 35" DC Mud Country tires, 5.29 gears, Land Cruiser front brakes, front & rear lockers, Twin Stick, '86 front hubs and '88 axle (for wider track)
It's a little more than I was looking for but couldn't pass this one up. I sold the civic HX and I miss that 40 MPG, but this Yota is fun to drive
