Guy at my work just bought an 06 or 07. Awesome car, though I was unimpressed with the interior in general. Great top end power, fun as hell, looks awesome with the 19's. The sounds is so-so until the higher RPM's. There is a lot of what sounds like muffled fan noise.
Definitely would recommend the Remus or the Tubi. The Remus sounds great, very exotic, and it's cheaper than the Tubi. It's a tiny bit loud, but all aftermarket exhausts on these cars are. The Tubi is very good (much sharper sound). Excellent construction, it's even pretty to look at. If I had a Cayman S I would drive a Tubi but I don't mind having a pretty loud car. I'd keep the stock headers/cats because aftermarket ones tend to blow out or give CE lights.
Big fan of their stuff. Installs easy, sounds good. Quality is top notch, even above the Tubi (at least from my experience) and that says something.
I think the Tubi systems tend to enhance the higher shrill sound while the AWE system seem to bring out the throaty lower tones. I absolutely LOVE the Tubi's on our Italian products, but AWE is my first choice for German gear.
Dan, I've had AWESOME luck with AWE's 200 cells on various cars. Other than one we combined with a previously installed Tubi system which sets off car alarms at a 1 block radius.
NO cel's. And not a single problem with many kits installed. I typically keep stock can's on cars, and utilize the 200 cells. We have an emmisions test up here and the 200's still allow the cars to pass no problem.
We have one customer who tracks the SHIT out of his car, he has the factory PSE with 200 cell AWE cats. Sounds fucking awesome with the mufflers open. Hit the switch and it mellows out nicely. Although his car is starting to show the excessive track use. Melted the factory wiring for the PSE system... All four calipers are a nice shade of brown now (997 C2S)
Impressive!! All the track guys up here swap out their pretty PCCB rotors for steel on the track. Pointless? SURE IS. But that shit ain't cheap to replace.
