I'm going to Iceland and Norway in June and the idea is to take a whole fuck load of photos. Thing is, I don't really want to carry everything and the kitchen sink. I've become a bit of a gear whore, so I've got a 14, 16-28, 24-70, 35, 40, 50, and 70-200, and I'd love to pick up a macro soon too. Some of the hikes we'll be going on are 10 hours or so, and packing light seems like the way to go. What do you guys carry for travel? Part of me wants to get an XT1 and their wide zoom and a couple primes and let that be it, but I'd be worried about needing some reach and kicking myself for missing something seeing as I'll probably not make it back to either. What say y'all? |

the xt1 and other fujis are fabulously light. waiting for the 16-55/2.8 to come out. my philosophy is to simplify when traveling. |

Depends on the trip, but if I had your selection of lenses, i'd bring: 16-28 24-70 35 or 50mm Or, you could leave the 16-28 and just bring the 14, but i'm assuming the 14 is a fisheye. I don't have anything wider than 24 so my kit would be 24-85 and either my 35 & 85 or 50 & 85. I almost never bring my 70-200 unless something specifically calls for it. |

Are you trying to shoot landscapes, or just kind of shoot candid stuff as you hike? If I were you I would bring the 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200 and a tripod, and look into getting some Lee drop in filters. Nate |

Landscapes for the most part. There's some pretty stunning shit over there. What filters would you bring? |

Graduated ND and a circular polarizer. Nate |

If you're gonna shoot some serious landscapes, it's a good idea to invest in something like these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=lee+filters&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search= Nate |

You can get the pieces for a 4X6 filter kit on Amazon for Lee and Formatt. Wish I had known that before paying full price and waiting for shipping from the UK. A reverse grad ND and 10-stop are useful. That's a lot of stuff to haul around unless the goal of the trip is photography. |
