New vehicle in garage: MIL's 2023 Honda HR-V AWD

Picked it up last week, took 4 months.

Haven't really had a chance to drive it. Moving on from a 2017 Nissan Qashqai...

Initial impressions
- Honda Jewel Eye headlights. Never really a fan of them, preferred Morimoto H11b HID projector kit installed on the Qashqai
- Underbelly and wheelwells have fabric(?) covers with pushpins installed ... It's like hard felt? I'd imagine this shit would gather and retain water and dirt like mad...
- Push button start seems to be a bit hidden?
- Hate the front end
- Rear windows + rear glass come tinted pretty dark (25%?) ...

Just like the damn Volvo XC90, I can't quite figure out the jack + jack stand points... ... I mean, I can find one spot per wheel area, but then, if I use that, there's no spot for the jackstand... So for now I'm doing unsafe tire changes...

4 months to pick it up? Did you have to swim to Japan?

Eeek, thats something you usually want to iron out before you buy a new car

Can you elaborate? What's unsafe about what you're doing? Not using a jackstand and leaving it on the jack?

Leaving it on the jack with no jackstand.

The HR-V has a section of metal that's about ... 5 inches wide, looks like an L bracket. I use that section for the jack. There's no other viable spot for the jackstand (large portion of the L bracket is covered by the 'sideskirt' plastic ...

Yes, I could throw a tire under as a safety ...

Clearly you guys haven't experienced buying a new car lately. RAV4 backlog is/was nearly a year.

I'm quite content to never know the joy of buying a new RAV4.

it's not just RAV4, the wait time to buy new cars are just crazy long. BTW, welcome back.

I'm hearing if you order a new car now, you might get it by 2024. Maybe they're ushering us into the self-drive future ... yuk

I ordered a new mazda cx9 in October... projecting to arrive in march or april. The wait sucks but the cx50 wait is over 1 year currently.
