Floor Jack Recommendations

My jack (Motomaster or Mastercraft?) has served me well for over a decade. It started leaking oil and wont lift as high. I'm told I'm better off replacing it. Should Princess Auto be considered an option? What are brands to stay away from? No specific requirements, other than one of the cars is an Odyssey. My previous jack lifted just enough however a board or two under the jack made it easier.

Costco member?

Their jack with the SUV adapter goes on sale for $100, $130 regular price (in-store). It’s a bit more online.

Thanks, I had checked my local Costco last time i was there but didn't see any. I'm guessing its not something they always stock.

Re: Floor Jack Recommendations

For hydraulic equipment I'd probably skip princess auto, that said everything else has also gone down in quality so for a weekend warrior it's probably ok (provided you store it in good environment).

As long as you go with a minimum 3 ton then shop on price and warranty. I'd probably still go mastercraft. Good things have been said about the costco stuff too.

that looks like a decent jack. i have this one:

its the smaller one but fine for my needs, i do need to drive up on 2 2x4's if i'm jacking the car up by the front middle lift point because it won't fit under the lip but fits under all the other jack points.

the one zaius posted looks like it'll lift a car nice and high, i had a jack like that back in the day before it broke, a friend brought it back from USA costco and i loved that thing, 4 pumps and the car would be 10ft in the air and the crappy tire one zaius posted looks like the same kind of thing. i'd watch for it to go on sale and snag one.

Re: Floor Jack Recommendations

this has always been the dream before seeing that motormaster jack.

off topic, the new civic has an impossible to reach jackpoint in the middle of the car. So annoying. I need to drive it up on ramps, but before I can do that, I need to remove those weird underbody wheel diffusers first.

if you can wait for the borders to open back up, the harbour freight Daytona car jacks are the same as the snap on ones.

Re: Floor Jack Recommendations

I use my princess auto 3 ton for everything. It's a heavy bitch though.

Sidenote your current jack isn't done. You just need to swap in clean hydraulic fluid. I.e. give it an oil change lol

Mines pretty much this one https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/3-ton-low-profile-super-duty-floor-jack/A-p8760910e

Reluctantly had to go to the Costco at Warden and Ellesmere last week. Was about to leave and thought "lets see if they have it in stock". Sure enough they did, $129. Haven't unboxed it yet but thanks for the heads up.
