So its monday, you forget your lunch at home or were too lazy to cook (or worse do grocery shopping at all) and now you need to eat the cheapest way possible....what do you get? For me, the closest/cheapest/most filling option is Burrito Boyz. $6.24 w/tax for a small bean and cheese burrito. Have them stuff it with basically everything. Drink water from the watercooler and bobs your uncle. I order from the app in advance, and walk over 5mins to pick it up. I like ordering from the app cuz then nobody in my office can hear me order and its always ready when I arrive, almost zero waiting. This may be a single man's question as most of you are all spoiled now cuz your wives make your lunch |
Good question. Not sure what most consider cheap nowadays but I'd consider anything under $8 pretty cheap. I remember when McDonalds was considered a cheap lunch alternative. Now a Big Mac combo will run you almost $10. Having said that I think you can grab two McDoubles (not the combo) for about $4. Filling and cheap, but you might feel like ass aferwards. There are many Burrito options in my area and as OP mentioned if you go with the small you can get it for about $7 Sometime's I'll hit up Subway. |
Closest would be the caf downstairs, pizza pizza, sandwich or burger. |
Slice of pizza from Pizzaiolo does the trick for under $5. |
Ah this takes me back to my days working on the road. I used to live on $2 burger king chicken sandwiches and $3 subway 6" flat breads These days.. shit i dont even know. BK 10 nuggest for 2 bucks? lol nobody said anything about nutritional value hahah |
Slice and garlic knots from the cafeteria. |
Canadian Tire hotdog vendor lol Or...my house Lots of cheap to pricey eats here though. |
Mr Patty. Patty/cocobread/pop - $2 (or somewhere around $2) |
schwarma place called Taza Express, you can get a chicken on the rocks (schwarma chicken on rice) for $7, and they're 2 for $10 on Fridays. you get a lot. |

If i am in a pinch i will get 2 junior chicken sandwiches from mcdonalds for $3.xx |
But are these options filling? I don't think I'd be satisfied w/ 10 BK nuggets for two reasons. One cuz they are shit and two because they are so small. I guess for $4 one could get 20 nuggets. Still tastes like shit tho lol. My burrito was excellent today and supremely filling. Sadly there's no shawarma place around my work. I went to a Chinese food place and got a 2 choice meal once. It came to $14! I was like whoa.... Never went back. Food was good but way to pricey for lunch. I could get 2 days worth of burritos for that price and have some change for a timmies coffee! |
After eating 2 junior chickens i feel so disgusting with myself so as a by product i guess they are filling because i don't want to eat after. |
T&T ? or some street meat? |

Originally Posted By: Risky Business If i am in a pinch i will get 2 junior chicken sandwiches from mcdonalds for $3.xx This is by far the cheapest option. But I need 3 to be full (+ drinking water from the office to let the bun expand to give that false sensation of fullness). 2nd option I rely on is getting chili chicken on rice from Wah Too - they just jacked up the price by $1 so I think it's $8 taxes in with steamed rice (+$1 if you are a baller and spring for the fried rice). |
Nothing cheap where I am around York and Bremner. Subway is cheap but not great....that's emergency food. Panago Pizza is the cheapest at about $8 for a personal size pizza. Grabb Ap (before they were bought) by Foodora had a Hero Burger combo for $7.19 before tax. |

Love the FMP foodcourt. The Thai and Korean places are solid and around $10/meal. The chicken Katsu at the Jap place is $7.50. Originally Posted By: Hatorade Not bad. I pay $7 at First Markham Place. |

Work canteen. Used to be $2 breakfast / $4 lunch, but with the move to the new HQ, they've up'd the quality of the ingredients, bumping prices up to $4/$6. Work also provides pop, fresh-ground coffee, carbonated filtered water, and a slew of fucking sweets/snacks most of the time. Supposedly it's extremely common to gain 10 lbs in your first year here |

I went to FMP for the first time for lunch a few wks ago ... Those Asian butchers are fan-fucking-tastic. I go around the back, and see the piggy gangbang Originally Posted By: Hatorade Not bad. I pay $7 at First Markham Place. |

Another cheap eat to fill yourself is the $4 chilli from Wendy's, been half a decade, but I remember that was my go to when I was trying to save and had to eat out. |

Beef patties are a good cheap fill. There's a Jamaican place close by that i've gotten beef patties from. But the smell is so good in there I can never just get the patties. Always end up with jerk chicken too. Wendy's chilli is good as well, but I find that I'm CRAZY thirsty after eating it. Its probs got 3000mg of sodium in it at least. Sadly (well maybe its a good thing) but there's no street meat by my work at all. That pig picture is totally gross! |

I love FMP food court, although the two meat choice rice dish box isn't cheap there. Other stuff is good and relatively cheap + quantity. McDs, i would do the Jr. CHicken or McDouble, however, i feel like my body takes 8 hours to digest this out. SO i hardly eat Mcds, once in a while. Patties are not cheap anywhere you go. It's always like 3.50, but you need at least two. If i'm extremely in a pinch i would go to the CHinese Bakery shops and buy Six buns for 5-6$. And if i really want to cheap out, i would ration that off for two days. |

George's has 3 locations in RHill/MHam, 6 for $6.45, and they have jerk/curry stuff, though it's expensive... http://www.georgestastee.ca/locations.html Originally Posted By: OracerO Patties are not cheap anywhere you go. I got Roti on my way home from work yesterday. Never been to this place before. It was SO good. $8.50 wasn't too bad. I'll defi be stopping by here again. It was Kori's in Oakville, on Speers. A co-worker told me about it. |
Kori's has a good rep. |

I used to hit up Ghandi on Queen west for some good roti. Very filling but not cheap as its $12 +tax. It seems as though their servings used to more plentiful with meat. Last few times seems it was a little more on the fillers (veggies). |

Guess i'm having Roti today. |

Growing up ... The local ghetto lunch joints used to do a beef patty 'sandwich' ... 'Toasted' beef patty on a kaiser bun, with mayo and/or mustard .... Can't find it now, but Eddie Huang did a walk-thru / episode @ George's Taste http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2017/06/eddie-huang-huangs-world-toronto |

Did anyone take advantage of Pizza Pizza'a anniversary sale yesterday? Not the best pizza, but a slice + pop for $1.50. Limit of 2 per person. Two take-out slices is about equal to 4 regular slices. Not bad for $3.50 after tax. |
I had a chance to try Topper's pizza last week and it was pretty good. If they ever come to the GTA I'd put them near the top of the list. I had a slice of Pizza Pizza the next day and it was garbage. |

pizza pizza is cardboard and cheese. only good for after a night of drinking lol |

Pizza Pizza is always garbage, but its edible, more so at that price. |

Tim Hortons now has a "2 Classic Breakfast Sandwiches for $5" deal ... Dunno how long it's been going on, or if it's all day, but ... news to me |
