Fucking dumb. How is this helping? COG will jus go up and the only winner here is the government racking in more tax revenue. Majority of the min. Wage workers is retail/service which already runs on low margins.
The largest retailer in Canada saw this coming and has been proactive in the past year. Lots of management was let go.

I was about to develop a franchised restaurant and I can let you know that even a premium pasta/pizza restaurant has thin margins (at best 15%). Expect less jobs (more robots, more mobile ordering) or higher prices.

So it took about 16-18 years for minimum wage to go from 6.40/hour to current 11.40/hour. This new plan is complete bullshit. I have to hire people at my job and I can tell you some kids coming into workforce dont even EARN the current 11.40.
