Nobody was hurt in the making of this photo

Well my beloved G37x is no longer. This car was great, bought with ~181k, died with ~235k on it after having it as a road trip car for 2 years. The drivers headlight now lines up with the side view mirror - written off, in Chicago, while I was in the backseat through a left hand turn. The collision happened at about 15mph our speed, 35mph other car, for an 80kph impact you wouldn't know it.

I really, really liked this car. I'd recommend these cars highly.
RIP 2009 G37x - was my newest car! 4Runner is 2006, M3 is 2008.

Brother in law was driving. To be honest, this car has grip and torque (think AWD 335i with no lag), and he was getting cocky.

COMPLETELY avoidable. Dad was freaking out in the passenger seat as bro went for it.

Put it in brother in laws name (still 'my' car, no money changed hands) 10 days prior. He'd use it as his own and keep it in good shape between times when I want to use it, about 7-10 weeks/year.

Was insurance at least under his name? Would suck if this now your problem.

I am assuming he will give you the insurance settlement?

Yes insurance was under his name
No he doesn't want to give me the entire settlement
Yes it is in fact written off, the whole front end is tweaked
Yes that's me cutting tile
That may be Risky's wife, but I'm not having an affair.

Nothing else worthy of a post, Wayne?

Re: Nobody was hurt in the making of this photo

Brother in law tried to beat a cab traveling straight into the intersection, while we're making left hand turn. He says he didn't see it as the columns were in the way, dad from the passenger seat did very much see it. Yes the car is pointing the wrong way in the picture, it was hit. I immediately got out of the car and took the picture before it was moved.

CN: i gave brother in law my lottery scratcher, no gift, no special occasion, to scratch on my behalf because I was there but busy, the scratcher is a winner, he wants some money.

Brother in law isn't rich, or motivated, and always cries about money. I have need for a car in Toronto still and decided rather than sell the G37x (did you catch 25k/yr on basically road trips only?) it went in his name for insurance reasons under the condition he keeps it up for me to use, for 3 years, whenever I want it. Crashes it about 10 days later, with me in it, on a road trip. If he wants to continue the deal and buy another car I don't give a crap that's fine with me. Problem is he wants to take his portion of the 'winnings', buy another car, and not have me involved since his daughters car just died. They also don't want to just buy a new car for the family with the money because it exposes them to being a single car family when I need a car. omfg people.

Icing on the cake, the daughters car that just died is my 01 Jetta I sold the family in April 2012 which was neglected and I was in the last month told "I keep selling them shit". The Jetta was $3000, cert and etested, 4.5 years ago, on summers with winters included, technically sold at the time to my niece, and I even let her pay over time.

Whatever, I've got bigger things to deal with. And if you're wondering, yes, brother in law is employed by me.

Fucking... just don't, ROFL.

I'm married, and I'm not, all at the same time.
The chick in the pics, no comment there. It's not my wife.

RB, no need to feel bad for me, I'm not complaining, did I and I missed it?

The Jetta was sold to my niece to help her out, no problem, she was 22 at the time and now it was her younger sisters car. The G37x was a mileage claim asset for me. Much better than renting cars (few thousand kms every few months). Now I'll just get out of it roughly what I'd have gotten had I sold it and he'll keep the rest.

Re: Nobody was hurt in the making of this photo

Thanks guys. Honestly, I feel it's about managing expectations.

I don't care what happens to the car, as long as I'm made whole, he can make some too. My mom and dad benefit from me/dad helping them but we all see it, we all know it.

Bro wants to be paid in USD when dollar goes down, goes back up, would want CDN.
Bro wants to be paid salary, get put in salary, have a good year, want to be put back on hourly, tell him no, have a bad year, is happy to be on salary.
step sister takes mom grocery shopping while dad out of town (to see me), sister puts few hundred items on the belt, lets mom pay.
neice's bf wants a used bike, tried my Heckler, didn't like it because "I'm an asshole raping it of parts - it showed up without pedals!"

Tells me, on a 14hr drive Georgia to NJ, that when dad dies, he wants half of his share in my company, which dad isn't an owner of but that's irrelevant, seriously you're putting my father in the ground?! HOLY FUCK. I hadn't seen my GF in a while and we stopped in Maryland where she was at her uncles and he refused to crash there and made her entire family feel uncomfortable in their own home. JFC...

It stresses my mom (stepmom) out when there's turmoil in the sister/bro in law's house, and this stresses my dad. So for them and them alone, I keep 'helping' this family. My parents are on average 70, they don't need step sister calling and complaining about husband on a rampage, no money, no food, broken car, etc. It's a brutal cycle and it's not getting better I've accepted it.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to get into this from 'my' Infiniti is now dead.

I know family is family, and there is a certain respect level you have to maintain (or take). But when you are the bread winner of the family, sometimes its just better to impose 'some' martial law and show them that if you want my help, STFU and be grateful.
