BMW Driver-Side Front Air Bag Module Voluntary Safety Recall
BMW AG is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall involving Driver-Side Front Air Bag Module on certain BMW vehicles that are equipped with non-desiccated Takata PSDI-5 inflators. These vehicles, covering model years 2006-2015 have not been part of earlier Takata-related air bag recalls. There are approximately 840,000 vehicles in the US.

E70 (X5 incl M)
E71 (X6 incl M)
E72 (X6 ActiveHybrid)
E90 (3 Series Sedan incl M)
E91 (3 Series Sportswagon)
E92 (3 Series Coupe incl M)
E93 (3 Series Convertible, incl M)
E82 (1 Series coupe)
E83 (X3)
E84 (X1)
E88 (1 Series convertible)


At this time, BMW is still developing a repair solution. Stay tuned to Bimmerfest for update as more information becomes available.

this adds onto the drivers side E46 recall they released last year.. and we still haven't recieved any update on parts availability for that!

takata...oh how i love thee fawkers.

honda/acura got tagged for a shitload more too, even in new cars.

i think a couple other auto makers will be added to the list shortly.

It was passengers side....unless this is new ? But I haven't received anything yet. Details ?

passenger side we've been replacing for a while now. parts were relatively easy to get for that. But there's a drivers side one for E46 and E39.. and now it expanded to all the models above.

ya I had mine done last year(passenger). But havent received any notices for the drivers side. Im sure its part of it.


quick google shows that there have been no failure to deploy or shrapnel on bmw's...but that was a 30 sec look

I just got a recall letter for my Gen Coupe.

Hyundai says the driveshaft can disconnect because the differential and suspension crossmember may not have been properly aligned during assembly. The automaker says the bolts that hold the differential can loosen if the differential and suspension crossmember aren't aligned.

Loose bolts could cause the rear differential to loosen from its mounting position and cause the driveshaft to separate from the differential. If that occurs, forward movement will be stopped and the car will coast to a stop.
