Re: brb, joining police force

"he force attributed the jump to the fact that paid duty – when officers direct traffic or attend private events – is factored into the calculations for the first time, despite the fact that some of those costs are paid for through the private sector. The average TPS officer makes about $90,000, according to the police union, and those who participated in paid duty in 2014 earned an extra $9,000 on average because of it."

then it goes to say:

"But even after removing those who made the list because of paid duty, the list still represents an increase of almost 600 workers over 2013"

An increment of 600 != over 50% of the force at the 6 figure income bracket.
There's a lot of funky stats in this article.

not trolling. just wondering how you came up w/ that ignorant statement, but hey I forgot you're always right and we're always wrong bc we can never speak from our experience.

go become a politician and fix it. Im sure you and wayne would be great politicians at sword fighting debate.

or better yet, why dont you give us some ideas on how we can fix it rather than be all

Re: brb, joining police force

Thats cute coming from you. King ignoramus.

I do have friends and family on various forces all across Ontario. So yes I have direct insight into the job. Its a country club. The hardest part of it is the shift work.

You don't get shot at or *insert some other bullshit here* that is commonly spouted off by people who don't know or havent put legit thought into it.

I don't have interest in the job for various reasons but none of it has to do with safety. You are more likely to die working construction than being a cop. Its a cushy job here. period.
With plenty of opportunity to milk OT.
Costs have ballooned and are way out of control.

And they have put themselves in a perfect spot. God forbid you speak out against these costs as a politician. Youll end up with a horse head in your bed. Its the same type of fear mongering Harper is doing right now. You are either with us or with the terrorists.

Someone needs to get the police spending under control. They don't need 30k cameras on their cars, military tactical vehicles , ar15's , and a shit ton per hour to sit and watch dvd's in their cruisers.

not the danger. I acutally wanted to be a cop when i was younger. I am really glad i didnt. Once you have kids it changes everything. i would not want to get the call to some accident scenes, or searching for that poor little guy that froze to death.
Or all the other terrible crap you have to see.

If it was 100k a year to put up a speed trap, and pull over dumb drivers, sign me up.

I have a hard time believing that a bunch of cops sit around a table with non cops and boast about working in a *country club* environment…your story would’ve had more traction and credibility if you just told us right off the bat it was something you read online. You just *had* to go into (i have friends, blah blah, read online, blah blah, round table discussions, blah blah, infowarz, blah blach, barrie country club).

Wut.
My buddy is a cop, and he deals with quite a lot of crap in his job.
It's not as cushy as a regular CSI poster's job \:D

Also, knowing what some paramedics go through, it wouldn't be surprising to know that cops go through a similar thing. It can be a pretty serious thing. We can judge, point fingers, whatever... But I personally have no issues with it. It's not an easy job to have, and as Rob mentioned, it's a way harder thing once you have a family. Why shouldn't they be compensated for policing dem streets?

And I'm sure OP is milking way more than most of the ppl in the sunshine list. No idea why he's trolling with this thread XD

What I am showing you is the "its a dangerous job" line is BS compared to what Canadian soldiers face. There is no justification for that pay level if thats the excuse.

Take a look at what Canadian armed forces gets paid. That's a dangerous job, and way more honourable. I would not even bat an eye if every private made 100k.

I get paid because of what I know, not claiming my job is dangerous and I need to be paid, when Canadian forces are making 1/2 of what a cop in Toronto makes for a way more dangerous job.

But if you want some speakers C2K, I have a deal for you, you just need to be tall enough to carry them (Ontario's OB1, but without the $$$)
