WWCSIdo?? So, old owners took all the mats in the car

The first owner of the car decided to take all the mats specific to the car. The car comes with a set of winter rubber mats, summer carpet mats and the trunk carpet. The dealer gave me a set of carpets mats but nothing else.

I was looking through my glove box and found the old owner's email address. Would you politely contact them to suggest buying the mats back? Pretty sure they have no real good use for them as they are car specific.

Kijiji has a guy selling a set of same rubber mats for $120....probably going to do the Weather Tech route which is $229 but I save $$ down the line as they are pretty awesome at keeping salt off the carpet.

Would you feel freaked out or offended if someone that bought your old car contacted you?

wwcsido?

email old owner first, if he's a dick, then go weather teach route. It fills in the area so well.

That can be arranged. They didn't change where "home" is on the GPS. I should go and just take them back.

The kind of scumbag who takes the floormats out of a car when they trade it in is not the kind of person you want to waste your time on.

Go WeatherTech and never look back.

Agreed.

I wouldn't recommend contacting the previous owner. Instead, ask the dealer if they could throw in a set of winter mats. If they don't I'd move on and pick up a set elsewhere and enjoy the car.

I don't think they were scumbag steving the new owner it was the dealer which they wanted to get the most out of who was probably trying to hose the guy on trade in.

When I trade in my cars I take off everything that is easy and return it to stock. I keep the car very basic because the dealer isn't giving me a decent dollar like a person buying private would. Most of the time a dealer unloads the car on a wholesaler anyways.

Re: WWCSIdo?? So, old owners took all the mats in the car

I'm looking to go the WeatherTech Digital Floor liner route and leave them in there all year long, but I have kids. Are you planning on using them all year? I think the rubber would cheapen the interior look of the car. Stick to the carpet mats for the summer.

Where are you getting the WeatherTechs from?

Re: WWCSIdo?? So, old owners took all the mats in the car

I looked at the US & Can site, they are within $10 so probably through the website. I have a friend who works at a dealer, I am asking if he can get cheaper.

If I get WT, I will keep them in all year. They are pretty awesome in keeping salt and moisture off the interior.

There are some local distributors whose prices are about $10 more than the Canadian site. I might go hit up one of them. Maybe they'll give a better deal in person.

The owner probably took them out to place the winter mats and never bothered bringing the mats when trading in.

Worth emailing I guess.
Funny if the kijiji guy is the actual owner of the car lol.

Weathertech floor liners for all seasons works too.

The guy's email name is "car expert". Probably works at the dealer or something.

The guys' original ad said $100 for both sets....after I emailed him, he jacked his price to $180. Eff that noise. Weather tech it is.

I bought weather techs for my legacy in 2008 with the intent to only use them in the winter, but somewhere along the line I just left them in. My carpet and floor mats are mint.

Every now and again, I coat them with non-greasy rubber protector. Makes clean up easy. I would go the weathertech route.

+1 had the same intention but get some salt stains here and there on the carpet. Nothing salt eliminator can't remove \:\)

I take them out every spring and give them a good wash and scrub.

To clarify, my thinking was that the rubber floor would cheapen the interior look of a car like his new(er) Lexus.

It wasn't there. I noted I want 2 mats. The trunk has an extra carpet. On the purchase agreement, I noted I wanted 2 sets. They got me one and told me to get a set of rubber ones off Kijiji and they will pay me back. (they shoulda just got it for me. LOL)

It isnt a deal killer...all this started as I wanted to see what everyone else would do.

You wanna soak your carpets with snow and slush when you can get kick ass mats like the Weathertechs? It's a single purchase that he'll have for the life of the car, it's a no brainer. I've got them in my truck first thing I purchased for it.
