Ford Focus RS

Approx 320hp and the same torque? All wheel drive with the ability to put 70% power to the rear wheels and 100% of that power to any one wheel?

Pretty awesome

Then my friend who is super bias with Subaru said the Focus RS is meh, interior is shit and reliability is a concern.

I would rock one over the current gen STi, just sayin'

Re: Ford Focus RS

love it.
i saw the youtube presentation vid from the car show.
odd thing is that the guy says there is a center clutch--which suggests it's a haldex system. that makes torque vectoring not as useful as it would be in a full time awd car. As for reliability, the motor is a mazda if that makes anyone feel better XD The 2.3L ecoboost = the mazdaspeed 6 engine. Ford had a deal with Mazda when Mazda developed it for the speed 6...and after the speed 6 run was over, Ford would take over that design. This is that motor (same motor as the one in the stang).

i think it's a wicked car. dat interior doe \:\(

Nice car on paper, won't go anywhere like the ST however. The price point of a hot hatch like that puts it over that demographic's budget defeating the whole point. The car is a step in the right direction doe.

I recall reading on some of the blogs, $35-37k USD. Thats puts it up in the low $40's here.

Risky nailed it. I barely see any ST's on the road and they are already over $30k. 300+hp and AWD aside, its still a Focus.

Im sure it does haul some ass though lol.

Re: Ford Focus RS

I saw a lot of FiST and FoST cars on the road last summer, I think they sold pretty well. This FoRS one is perfectly aligned (on paper) with the Golf R. And if those sales are any indication, the FoRS should sell well too.

The only problem is walking into a Ford dealer to look at the FoRS, and then finding out how much Mustang you can get for the same $.

dude, focus ST with some packages is already 35k (taxes in).. wtf you think ford is going to give away all the extra stuff in the RS?

its probably going to MSRP at 45k, add in a few features, and taxes.. and you'll be at 50k

What everyone is saying can be said for the golf doe.
The golf base is what, 18k?
Yet the gti costs about 30, r starts at around 38.

That's not terribly different than the focus.....except ok, non barfy interior.

And FWIW, I see more ST's than I see Si's in my hood.

Im curios to see what Mazada comes up with their next Speed3. Out of all these various econonboxes, the new 3 probably handles the best and is the nicest overall inside and out. An AWD and 300hp version of the current 3 GT would be an awesome car.

Many cars already do this btw.
The new GTI (with performance pack), any sport diff audi (that's half of the audi line up), iirc the new sti does it, all new f30 3 series with the e-diff and the new RCF & GSF also do this...oh, so does the new vette!

The torque vectoring is game changing. The car is suddenly so much more capable and adjustable with this. Understeer prone pigs can be steered with the throttle. You just have to get it pointed into a corner first XD

Re: Ford Focus RS

$35k with $2,500 delivery allowance.
Ford is getting rid of 2014 stocks.
You won't get that allowance with the RS

$40 tax in with Nav and Sunroof.
Addition to the $2,500 delivery allowance, If you get it with Costco $1,000 rebate, and dealer negotiation, you will probably get it for $34-35k.

But I doubt you will get any of those discounts with the RS.
I am guessing only dealers with SVT license(?) will carry them.
Yonge and Steeles is the best place to get Ford, but they can't sell Shelby.

I estimate about $44-45 tax in.

it's a far cry away from typical audi s car interiors \:\(
I sat in one at the dealer and was very disappointed. It's a nice car no doubt. Built for a price point no doubt. It's a sedan golf r XD to be fair though, if we compare the interior to other cars in the price range........i dunno. it's on par with the CLA which isn't saying much.

the a3 has a very clean and minimalist interior. it may appear sparse but it is decluttered by design. don't mistake that for quality of materials, switchgear quality, or panel alignment.

cla fit and finish is nowhere near the a3

Re: Ford Focus RS

^spd-dmn, i was referring to quality of materials.
the course grain leather, and stiff plastics on bottom half of the interior...mind you, the one i sat in was a cabrio. dont know if interior trim is any different on the sedan, or if there are trim levels for the interior.

whatever the case, the material quality was not expected. Here's a car that's like, $50k on the road and is intended to be one of the top models for the a3 line...but the interior is similar to the base a3, or even an a4.

If you sit in an s3, then sit in an s5...you see the materials used are vastly different. OKOKOK i get it, different price point. But audi is known for their interiors, and the s3 doesn't seem to live up to that standard.

Don't get me wrong - i am not bashing the interior styling. infact, i love the dash. I wish the s4 dash was designed like the s3 dash. The guage cluster is so old school proper \:D

But from the unsupportive seats, to the leather grain that is so course that it reminds me of the pleather out of a base 3 series...to the plastics used on the door panel. Not what I expected. seriously....sat in that, then proceeded to sit in a gti. i preferred the gti XD at least that car is 15k cheaper! XD

...or call me broken, bc my first audi experience was in an s4. /noob. i expected every interior from audi to be similar in quality and materials. when i sat in an allroad, i was surprised to find that the interior was no where near the same /noob /noob /noob.

It's better than the mustang doe! I give it that! XD
